They stand to make potentially more money just releasing in theaters and on home video. If people would rather pay 10 more dollars for their meal to be brought to them by meal delivery than to just walk a couple blocks and buy something, they'll put money down to watch a movie in their home instead of going to the theater. ESPECIALLY if they got kids.

This whole 'pay extra if you want to see it at home' hustle these guys have is low key overdue. I just feel bad for the theaters because they don't get a cut unless they pay to get these movies on their own video on demand services.

they paid $71 billion in the Fox deal.

$5 billion is laughable. They made over $1 billion between the two amazing Spider-Man movies alone.

Then there’s Venom. Why would they sell for $5 billion? They could pump out meh movies and make triple that over time.

And since Spider-Man is firmly entrenched in the MCU, the price would be even hire. Disney is basically forced to live with a shytty deal that started before they even bought marvel.

IMO spiderman is only worth about 2 billion at the highest
