In my lifetime, I was born in 1980, Mexicans have not been considered white. Is it your contention, over the past 40 years, that Mexicans have been considered white in America? So there’s some conflation of nationality, ethnicity and race going on here. I’m guilty of it as well so I’m not pointing fingers. It’s admittedly complex. I don’t think this is our problem so much as I recognize the political ramifications of letting the “they’re white tho!!” narrative slide. We may not have identical experiences but an overlap exists. Especially in certain regions/“melting pots” of the country. When we talk about wealth disparity, educational gaps, wage stagnation etc. Collaboration is a good thing but that’s obviously deemed dangerous to certain people.
