His race imo benefited him tremendously. If he was black or even white he wouldn't have received half the attention he's gotten since he started. But he must keep in mind that all the publicity he's getting for being a breakout star can help pave the way for other asain americans to enter the league. I'm not doubting one bit he's heard or experienced blantant racism in the elague but overall he should focus more on proving doubters wrong who think he's receiving special treatment cause he's asain.

So nobody cared about his race. But everyone saw he was getting hyped up becuz of his race and they knew what the deal was

It goes both ways. He got the fame cuz of he's Asian. He also got doubters deserved or not...no reason to play dumb.

He didn't say anything wrong.

"Now I'm on the scouting report and people are paying attention." That's where he started crying. It does go both ways, but right now? His race is 10x more in his favor then it is against him at this point. It's like when Em made "White America." It's in his favor now.

:myman: I like how black and whites act like another race can't call the race card just like most you nikkas do all the time.

If anyone white or black can call the race card like ya'll always do. Lin has 100% right to do the same.

No wonder racism isn't going anywhere, b/c everyone thinks they can pull the card but no other race can.

Did Lin get extra attention because of his race? Of course he did. That was the whole fukking point of Linsanity. He was/is the first Asian to play guard in the NBA if I'm not mistaken and also the first Asian guard to experience any type of success period. Cry about his contract all you want, but he's not the first NBA player to get a nice contract off of fluff performances (Jerome James comes to mind).

I don't see anything wrong with what he said either. But he's gotta deal with this in a better way cuz people who want to see him fail are coming out in droves right now and he needs to show at least he can take them on in the public arena.

I didnt see this thread on here, so...

Jeremy Lin News: Is the Houston Rocket a Target Because of His Race?

Some people want it both ways. :comeon:

Welcome to the REAL world. But....

Nobody cares about your race from an NBA standpoint. If people felt you were great player, then your skin color wouldn't matter. Yao Ming was doing his thing when he was healthy, nobody went extra hard on him b/c of his race.

But every NBA player saw the 24/7 Linsanity coverage and all the outrageous media pandering & exploitation towards the Asian community and everyone knew what teh deal was. Then you get a huge contact on the basis of mainly hype b/c there's certainly no long standing resume, and people want to play you even tougher to prove you dont deserve it.

Nobody wants to be outplayed by someone they feel is mainly a product of hype. There's really nothing more to it than that.

And the fact that the NBA is 3/4 black, it's obvious he's referring to black players.

Thank you I brought this up in the other thread with lins air ball . The guy been on a whining spin campaign since leaving the Knicks , he's been in articles where they bashing the Knicks for letting him go now not a peep ? Houston was one of the teams that cut you dummy !
They just wanted a ticket drawer

Where was he "Crying Racism" tho?

He was speaking the truth cause if I go walk into any gym right now and they put ANY asian on me in a pickup game I'ma be like :pachaha: lets :eat:

Like everybody said, it works both ways. He was just speaking from his perspective.

This is why i'm annoyed by the media and fans because when a player doesn't speak on anything and do his job he boring and bland (i.e. Tim Duncan). But when they speak out and give their opinon or outlook on something we nitpick and turn it into something big and try to make a story of it.

:whoa: thats your opinion but I didn't take it there

All I'm saying is the quote in the article isn't really about his contract or any "crying", he's just speaking on his experience in life as an asian basketball player. And I got no problem with it...
