So Johnny, Sue, Ben, and Reed aren't the FF? Or is it the different suits you have an issue with? or the origin? There are some rumors I haven't read cause I like to be surprised so which are you referring to when you say "FF in name only?"

Does "gritty", "grounded", "realistic" and "disabilities" sound like the Fantastic Four? those are antonyms to the word "Fantastic" as opposed to synonyms. The Fantastic Four are 1960's themed adventurers who explore and travel to weird, wacky destinations and worlds not Mutants. They've yet to have the Fantastic Four actually do any sort of exploring in the films(*looks at Interstellar*:mjcry:). Yet the cast members keep spitting out buzzwords and phrases like "new take", "fresh", we've seen a shytload of I hate my powers/learning how to use my powers superhero movies for the last decade. The 2005 movie was that. A superhero/comic book movie on exploration has yet to be made. This just sounds like what they did with the first X-MEN movie, which removed all of the fantastical elements and put the X-MEN in black leather. We're not in 1997 anymore when there was a social stigma towards these movies. Just give us a Darth Vader inspired Von Doom:snoop:.

Using the Fantastic Four brand to make a rushed spiritual successor to Chronicle :smh:.

I get why Marvel is doing it but honestly the comics division of marvel hardly effects the movies now if anything they copy a lot from the movies making Fury black in 616 and Agent Coulson a character in the comics. The comics don't effect the movies that much to be cancelling series and not creating new characters.

It does honestly your not going to make new characters or FF comics for x amount of years ?because at this rate Fox is never going to release the X-men every movie has been a hit and the last three basically resurrected the franchise critically.

Exactly. So instead of using these books to "introduce new fans" as they always say in comics, you're now cutting off one way for new fans to get into it and FF is a great all ages book.

Claremont lol..that's what I'm saying. He came out and said the new directive going forward is that they can't create new characters for the x universe

Chris Claremont talked with Len Wein, Marc Bernardin and Heath Corson about his and Len's history in comic books a few months ago at Phoenix Comic Con for the Nerdist Podcast. I just got round to listening to the audio (and you can as well, below).

Something unreported however until now, was when asked about creating new characters,?Chris Claremont said,
"I have to say quite honestly as I understand it now the X department is forbidden to create new characters.

(SHOCK RESPONSE)

"Well... who owns them?

"All because all new characters become the film property of Fox.

"There will be no X-Men merchandising for the foreseeable future because, why promote Fox material?"Forty-two minutes in... but you should listen to the whole thing. Chris Claremont currently writes the X-Men comic book?Nightcrawler, with a new issue out tomorrow.

We have reported this character-creating issue before now, but this is the first time I've heard an X-book creator confirm it publicly. We've also been told though that if you can create new characters under the guise of a Marvel Now style event, then they can be attributed to Marvel Now and not to an Xbook... so Marvel gets to keep the film rights.

[audio:http://traffic.libsyn.com/nerdistwriters/ncp58_chris_claremont.mp3]

"Combat Cow is not a mutant. Because if he was a mutant there would be a war between a publishing company and a film company and we don't want that." - Chris Claremont.
