If Hamas is the only hold up to peace in the region, why did Netanyahu lead a protest that lead to the assassination of the last Israel Prime Minister for seeking a peaceful solution?

Once you start reading in-depth history about how those countries were created & how they were all warlords that fought on the side of western countries against Ottoman empire before they were installed as royalty - it’s very plausible.
