She's from a novel called Itachi shinden, from what I saw some people consider it canon but it seems Kishimoto never confirmed it. It was then adapted into the anime.

Not canon....Kishi had to reconsider and add it. He used the word "lover" to describe his beau. Idk about you....but lover....usually implies gay relationship.m.esp when it was written in the Manga.
