it's a huge gamble in football. they could either gain traction and build something credible, which is all but impossible in the ACC. or they could get absolutely destroyed and be permanent cellar dwellers, which is very likely, and definite for at least the first year of play.
for bball, i was pissed at first, history and all that. but the death of the conference format is inevitable anyway, might as well cash in on it while maintaining a high basketball standard. being that it's the
#1 sport far and away at MD and given its history and prospects, no other conference would be suitable for terps basketball.
