i know we're new to the party and all that, but can we all band together to loathe rutgers as a conference?

worst part about this is probably being in the same conference as them.

i'm a diehard terps fan and initially i was like :what: :to: :mindblown:

but this move i'm beginning to be cool with. we definitely upgrade in conference for football. basketball, the acc is top heavy and we lose the rivalries with obnoxious ass UVA and VT, and unfortunately we lose a good albeit one-sided rivalry with duke

but the big ten has been surprisingly fukking solid top to bottom in hoops for the last 5-6 years, despite not turning out national champions since OSU

if we're willing to piss away the history for money :leon:, it does have some positives

it's a huge gamble in football. they could either gain traction and build something credible, which is all but impossible in the ACC. or they could get absolutely destroyed and be permanent cellar dwellers, which is very likely, and definite for at least the first year of play.

for bball, i was pissed at first, history and all that. but the death of the conference format is inevitable anyway, might as well cash in on it while maintaining a high basketball standard. being that it's the #1 sport far and away at MD and given its history and prospects, no other conference would be suitable for terps basketball.

yeah i thought to loh that  with the history and shyt, but if you think about it it's such a good move for football where we've been average most years.

i'm considering buying season tickets for football now just cause of all the schools i could get a chance to see that wasn't possible before

and the big 10 outside of winning championships has been better top to bottom in hoops. the big 10 always has about 6-8 teams in contention for the ncaa tournament, while the acc is teetering at about 4-5 each year now

i think the right decision was made for the long term, and i think fans in md will realize that when we're playing a ranked team in hoops every week

edsall coaching in the big ten would be like when a congressman's wife takes over the seat

what a joke. i predict we go .510 next year and lose in a 9th tier bowl game, edsall keeps his job, we start big 10 play and lose every single conference game.

then kevin plank buys the rights to nick saban's life and makes him sign a lifetime contract in blood :ahh:

big name coach comin thru. we're big 10 baby! big time! no more east coast crammed cities with no room for throwball. if football is the law of the land, i think it's clear we live in god's country now :lawd:
tie his wife and kids up, and make him sign that contract at gunpoint with his wife and kids in the next room tied to explosives. Its the only way :ohlawd:

National title within 2 years.:umad:

no, national titles or die. :shaq:

seriously tho, UMD could be a POWERFUL football program. In the DC area which isnt true of these other bumblefukk/tumbleweed schools, Under Armour money, and BMore is 25 miles away.

The right coach could make this program really good, really quick.
