If ANYBODY in wrestling today has a shot at reaching Austin levels its Daniel Bryan. D-Bry:

- Gets the biggest pops of the night weekly
- Constantly entertaining
- Can make any stupid angle into comedic gold
- One of the most talented in the ring today
- Has a finishing move that can beat anyone
- Fans buy his shirts
- A believable underdog that you want to root for
- A believable heel that you would pay your money to see beaten
- Has an awesome catchphrase that's even used by fans in other sports
- Has paid is dues and survive the bullshyt from management that thought he was a "vanilla midget"

There will NEVER be another Stone Cold Steve Austin, but D-Bry (possibly CM Punk to a certain degree) are the closest we will come to that level of gully in 2012 and beyond.
:wtf:

Rock and Austin are the goats, the Pac and Biggie of wrestling.

Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels were more technically skilled performers than both Rock and Austin tho.

and Hulk Hogan is a bigger household name than Steve Austin. The Rock is actually more of a household name than Austin as of 2012 honestly. Austin is still my top 5 fav

:beli: Hogan aint seeing Austin when it comes to workrate.

Austin is the GOAT, and it's undeniable.

Not really. There's more to mic work than comedic back and forths. That's obviously Rocky's lane and never really was Hogan's. He's built way too many must-see matches to discredit him as a talker.

If Brock had truly loved pro wrestling and stuck with it, things might have been different ...

But probably not.

Lesnar could of stuck around for 10 more years and he never would of had memorable promos to match his workrate. Never would of impacted the business on the scale of Austin unless he was killed tragically or something of that nature.

As for Hogan? It was not easy for him to do what he did during the 80s with those promos. Not sure how many times you get to practice or what not during that time frame but it still came out off classic and worked. Everything Superstar Billy Graham couldn't do, he did and of course did it much grander and bigger than anyone could of dreamed at the time.

Austin is the man but Hulk Hogan will always be the biggest wrestler ever to me. Hulkamania was worldwide in the late 80's to early 90's.

Rock was close, or slightly greater/less than Austin in wrestling history, depending on who you talk to.

However, his entry into Hollywood has made him a bonafide mainstream star. Austin's stock has fallen over the years. He was hot as anyone for a period, but his pop culture icon and household name status was never at the level of Hogan.

Hogan is more of a household wrestling name than either Austin or Rock, but he was never able to break off into Hollywood like Rock.

That's why it goes Rock > Hogan > Austin to me.

Keep in mind that Austin is my personal favourite of the bunch, followed by Rock. Hogan is a distant third. Was never a Hogan mark.

Personal preference I have HBGOAT as the GOAT(So does Austin :jawalrus:)

But I have no problems with anyone saying Austin is the GOAT and :wtb: @ anyone saying The Rock is the co GOAT. Wrestling wise or promo wise the Rock is no where near Austin's level. Austin can do the Rock's comedy stuff but can the Rock have an intense promo like Austin can? No. And wrestling wise they are not even in the same book let alone the same page.

what does being the bigger star or known person have to do with being the GOAT in wrestling?

tom brady is known outside of football, doesn't make him the GOAT quarterback.
