i did think it was kinda interesting that in one breath the movie was likening him to jesus and then in the next breath he's seen savagely breaking someone's neck.

was that there way of saying superman ISN'T jesus? that he's still only human?

or is it not even that deep and they just wanted to give the climax a very loud and definite conclusion.

either way, it wasn't very well executed and i hope that it is not a major plot device moving forward into BVS. but sadly i'm thinking it may.

Jesus killed some people in some of the lost books just to show that he could revive them

I liked MoS. Superman feels like the only character in history where he has to be done perfectly or the critics and fans will come out with claws. Can't be too powerful, too nice, too heroic, etc...

I would assume Superman killing Zod is the source of conflict in the film. The possibility of this big ass alien running roughshod over the planet is an issue. You don't have to resolve every issue in one film.

Man of Steel sucked, mainly because the story was bad. One of my main issues was they never explained why he would have been reluctant to kill, or why him killing was a huge fukking deal

He's not a terrible character breh when handled correctly. I don't see how anyone can read recent superman or watch JL or JLU and say he's a terrible character. He's a guy who's always holding back who wears the burden of leadership and power, and has an interesting inner conflict going on with holding himself to this higher ground while at times not wanting to be that
