What if after all the mythologizing it really is just a boys club. I happened to be in a masonic temple on Sunday and it was just an event space. I checked out all the floors and rooms. There's a reason why their recruitment has dwindled drastically in modern times. And they are sitting on a ton of real estate that is no longer used as temples that is open to peruse.

The fiction is greater than fact. Mason's are damn near extinct relics. Hence dudes running into old head members and not young recruits. shyt is not active.

These organizations didn't update with the times and all the secrecy didn't help them in the end. If they had a modern version of this kind of club for like minded men I'd be down.

Thing is, if you pay close attention in my city, you'll notice that they're pretty embedded here.

Not only will you sometimes see a small compass and square logo on the backs of cars around the wealthy parts of the downtown area, but in addition to the Shriner's lodge downtown, there's a big-ass masonic temple (not a "lodge", but a TEMPLE) that overlooks the largest river in the city.

I didn't think to ask the guy if he was a Prince Hall mason or a traditional mason, though.

No community service, no resume building for college grads, none of the stuff we did. So again, find out who does what and if you’re serious, join brothers who are actually making a difference in your community.

I'm familiar with John Macarthur, and I'll give it a listen before bed tonight.

As far as my "future destiny", my current situation over the past two decades has been a life filled with disappointment, frustration, despair, and a never-ending, almost cosmic string of bad luck.

At this point, I'm tired of being a statistic. A "victim". A victim of pure circumstance.

I'm sick of feeling like a side character in my own story. I'm fed up with being the Job of my own book.

I'm ready to embrace power.

The age thing is a reason i didnt get involved. It was all 55+ at the lodge i visited.

Besides being active in the community and having people you can ask for help within the lodge it aint much. You'll also have to get involved with charity and attending events to help. I got the feeling this is more of a retired mans type of thing.

My coworker got the boot after 20+ years because he couldnt attend events and meetings more often. Told him to kick rocks until he has time to show up for regular ass things. He would show up for confirmation events of new members to eat but was tired of the regular shyt.
