I don't think that is what's being argued. The point many people are trying to bring to the OP's story is that he reacted in a way that would further alienate his brother from anything that would change his negative views of black people. Had the OP even yelled at his brother without resorting to violence, I don't think he would have drew the same criticism. Especially in this instance where he plays into the very stereotypes he's trying to get his brother to realize don't apply to all black people.
