The bolded is counterproductive. Myself and others have already told you why.

So again, would you have felt better if Pop played them for 20 seconds apiece last night and then just benched them?

And the Spurs almost beat the Heat anyway simply because the Spurs didn't play as if they were laying down. The funny thing is that what happened last night would be MUCH better than them playing and mailing it in just to not go so hard in preparation for Saturday.

What's Stern gonna do? Ban the Spurs from TNT? Everybody wins in that scenario. Pop would thank Stern so much, he'd do it on ESPN too if it meant Stern would stop fukking around tryna coach Pop's team for him. It doesn't matter who televises it. Pop didn't make the schedule, so he can't be a slave to it.

I say they should of played the heat ! Not take time off vs the heat
The Niccas are being bytches I don't care how tough pop feels the schedule is he played three bad teams before the heat. How about resting one of the big three in the previous games or limit they minutes vs them not 2-3 minutes or take off the wizards game and still get 2 days off .
They are off tomm play Saturday then don't play again till fukking weds . The not again till Friday ! The schedule has rest already in it pop is just arrogant

They had the lead with a minute on the clock and you're complaining that the Spurs didn't play? :heh:

At what point has that team ever been about, stars and tv ratings?

But all that is besides the point

You are not the Spurs coach, so your notions of what is right and fitting in this situation have no bearing. Your ticket and merchandise money doesn't buy coaching influence and if Stern was sensible he'd recognise the line he's crossing with this bullshyt.

"They're being bytches" "Pop is arrogant"........:shaq2: Your point?

Only reason stern did this is cuz the the spurs made him look like an ass for a nationally televised game. shyt, I be pissed if I was a fan and bought tickets to that game or bet on it not knowing the spurs were basically taking the night off.

I still think this looks like another case of sterns ego running rampant tho.

The owner.

That stuff is collectively bargained and must be approved by every owner. That wasn't a unilateral decision by 1 guy. Also, that's been in place for 25 years, well before there was this thought that tanking was a problem.
.

That's not Pop's responsibility. He can't put aside his plan for his team because national TV is calling. Pop's not gonna be a slave for TV. Would people feel better had he done this on Saturday against the Grizzlies instead?

Pop might not be a slave to the networks but stern is. He understands that these networks generate the lions share of the revenue the NBA brings in and he doesn't want to make it look like in their eyes he condones this.

stern has no business interfering in how pop coaches his team, and this is coming from a guy that hates the spurs

stern abusing his power and just pissed off cause of the money and overreacted like a little girl, if pop wanna bench all them nikkas for the rest of the season thats between pop, his players, and his bosses in the spurs organization

stern tryna flex ending up lookin like a punk

It makes Stern look like even more of an ass that he didn't seem to care when this happened in Houston, Utah, or any of the other cities the Spurs did this in.

i really dont think stern is wrong here... popavich knew this was a nationally televised game, he could have rested them against orlando, got a W, and then been ready for the heat. or he could have rested two against, orlando, two against miami. he did not have to do it the way he did. this is a marquee matchup that people wanted to see. you have to remember this game is for the fans. this is different than resting at the end of the season because that is usually when positioning is set and you want to rest/not risk injury for key players and fans understand that.

but then wouldn't he be cheating the fans of Washington and Orlando??? that's why this is such a knee jerk reaction and stupid precedent set by a league commish.....if he's so against fans be cheated out seeing the stars, why doesn't he fine teams at the end of the year when they sit there stars against subpar, non-playoff teams??? Or better yet 2 teams who've secured playoff spots

He doesn't condone the Spurs being on TV at all if you read Woj's article.

You're missing the point. First of all, staggering their rest periods defeats the purpose of resting them at all. He wanted that extra day for everyone to be rested. Pop woulda did that shyt to a locally blacked out game at Charlotte if that's how the schedule was. National game or not, Stern is compromising how Pop does his job and that's messed up. Now you know what Pop will do? Deactivate two of them and play the others less than a minute the next time he feels like doing this. Then what? Stern's gonna make Pop have a minimum amount of time for them on the floor? Ypu may as well tell Pop to stay home on nationally televised games since he can't do what he feels is necessary for his team.

Lastly, Pop doesn't give a damn about his positioning. He'll make the playoffs anyway, with a high seed. This wasn't Golden State or Minnesota or Milwaukee who need every win they can get to make the playoffs. The Spurs aren't a fringe team. They'll get in. It's what they do once they're there that concerns Pop.

and what's the cutoff point for when a "late season game" is? When I clinch a playoff berth? A Division? Home court? The conference? The league?
