The problem was it got delayed wayyy too long and his first few singles that we're dope got cut. Stay Schemin, love my bytches, and that just blaze joint shoulda been on there in the worst way. The chick songs that made the album like the Usher and Omarion one sucked balls. This album was soft. And the bangers all sounded the same, same fukkin beat over and over!!

Co-sign.

If he had saved Stay Schemin for the album cutting one of the Trap records, droped that has his street single, he woulda had a bigger hit on the charts cause that song def. goes.

Dont know why he cut that Love My bytches song too. Shoulda had that has an album cut to go along with the souful feel of the album. And that Just blaze beat :whew:

I would agree with thread starter if he just said that it didn't have the impact it should, I agree alot of people thought it would take him to tier one of rap stars, but them singles just ain't pop off, I had a feeling touching you wouldn't blow, but I'm still confused how that song with nicki didn't blow up . But you lost me when you said that he dropped the ball big time cause he did his best numbers and alot of people like thet album and the best single hasn't even been pushed yet.

I look at it like this

tier 1
wayne,drake,nicki,hov,em, ye

tier 2
tip, jeezy, ross, nas, some other nikkas I cant think of

It's damn near gonna take a miracle for them nikkas on tier 2 to jump up to tier 1, tip was there or almost there but jail fukked him up

Its far from over for Rick Ross. Hes still one of the biggest names in hip-hop and very relevant.

He dropped the ball, because he was talking crazy reckless about this album and sales-wise, impact-wise, critic-wise, it didnt do it. If yall still enjoyed it, cool

Its just like he shot himself in the foot trying to make such a high-octane big-budget type album. He showed his ass with all these guests and cross-over attempts. He kinda showed he cant do it alone yet IMO

His next album really needs to be less of a Carter 3-like, lets please everyone-type of album, and more to the point. Its his 5th album and he still hasnt done anything remotely resembling a CONCEPT. Its not rocket science, he cant keep remaking the same album with bigger features and more orchestral breakdowns n shyt

If he wants to sit alongside the greats he cant just fall back on his industry connections and name

Yeah, I copped this and several of his group albums. Shyt is boring. All sounds the same minus a few joints.

Teflon Don was dope, including the albums before that.

But now I have no urge to listen to ths boring rappa

Not sure what you're talmbout here. :what:

Sale wise: He's certifed gold. I think you count on one hand artists that are going gold in this climate.
Critic-wise: It was a success save a few cats on these message boards who are always dislike anything ross does due to thier bias.
Impact wise: I'll give you that. GFID is not gonna go down has an album that changed hip hop landscape, shut down the year, be his "blueprint", etc. But I cant think of another album this year which has accomplished that. So Ross didnt score "60 points" this time. The nikka still equaled his numbers and more a bit and still got critical acclaim.

Big Budgeted Cinematical stuff is what made Ross who he is and took him up the ladder Imo. Once he started fukking with more samples and the Justice league on Trilla (MM 1 etc) I think he somewhat found his lane.

I dont know how he showed ass with all his guests. Its the same people he's BEEN messing with save 3 Stacks who is one of the GOATS and kills everyone on thier tracks all tha time.

Cross-Over Attempts? The nikka aint do no dub-step or corny euro dance pop shyt on this album. If he tried that then yeah Ill give you that but he didnt. He made chick songs. I always expect to hear ATleast one chick song on 95% major label album releases these days. And those chick songs on the album aint straight up awful they just didnt hit has hard or was better IMO than the ones he's had on previous albums (Magnificent, Superhigh, etc).

You want this nikka to do a concept album next? Nahh Im good on that.

Alright well, sales-wise sure it did good relative to everything else, but like I said, Ross did a lot of talking and the hype of this album didnt match the outcome. This album was supposed to do better than his other ones. Hes a brand now, and this is the flagship project. Also critically it was less successful. This site is still a good example of different opinions, and Metacritic has it lower than his last two...

The theatrical production is definitely part of his sound, but c'mon, Maybach Music IV's little bullshyt? :shaq2:
3 Stacks guitar solo :dead:
but yeah, the production banged for the most part, and he fell back on it honestly

He had a guest on nearly every song on Teflon Don, but Ross was still the epicentre of that album. On this one, he lets his guests run around and steal the show. Jay completely goes off on a tangent, Andre of course we know, Wale also goes off in one direction....then we have Ross, the supposed "star" of the show. Same topics, same shyt, and he has these creative guests doing things that are actually interesting and out of their elements

Okay now for crossovers. Basically, the beginning and end of this album are the only parts that felt genuine. The middle goes into the lets appease to the "hood" and the clubs, then it segways into a bunch of slowjams for the ladies. Its forced, and not organic at all. Hes definitely sequencing the album around its cross-over potential.

Concept ALBUM? Nah....but whats wrong with a bit of storytelling and creativity? Literally EVERY one of his peers have done this. Wayne, TI, The Game, etc
