Those people exist at every level of society. If the goal is to save tax money, then we shouldn't be going after the poor ones.
So we as a society need to accept that there will always be bums and there is nothing we can do about it?

That's road I don't want to be on. At some point the takers will outnumber the makers and that's when things will get interesting.

:mindblown:Cocaine was legal!! After you make it illegal you dont need to make another law saying dont put it in food.

After you make poisoning people illegal you dont need to make laws/regulations for every specific instance or type of poisoning...:dead:

Do you really think without these regulations poisoning and killing people would be ok?:mindblown:

They are wholly unnecessary.:rudy:

That fact remains true under the FDA no?

Its impossible to remove risk completely, and my position is that the benefits(if any) the FDA provides are not worth the cost.

^ Is not the same as saying there should be no protection as im sure will be suggested.
I'll give you that point, but I maintain that FDA regulation has made it significantly more difficult for it to happen, and these cases are much more rare. Read up on the food industry over the last 100 years. Not saying that to be rude, but its interesting and you might come across some things you didnt know before.

You seem to have a very utopian view of how society works without regulations. "Poison" is something that can be legally argued in a variety of directions. Without specificity, it's ripe for abuse, especially by the powerful (the corporations doing the "poisoning.")

I'm not sure what your trying to say. The practice was legal... like sugar is now...
They stopped using it before it was made illegal because of consumer pressure... what exactly are saying the FDA was needed for? To tell them not to use something they stopped using on their own? :heh: another great use of tax payer dollars.:deadrose:

I'd like to see the FDA shutdown and all the money spent on it given to the poor :birdman:. Thats how anti FDA I am.

and to be clear people are still dying from cocaine legal or not... probably more so, but i cant confirm that :manny:

Not "without regulation" without the FDA and with less regulation.

Even though it was legal it still hurt people. Regulations are there to prevent companies from hurting people for profit.

I'm not gonna even touch on the voluntary nature of consumption, and how no one has to drink coke for example, cause i know individual choice and responsibility dont exist here.

But companies that poison/hurt people dont survive, unless the people decide they like being poisoned...

these regulation create barriers to entry and punish the overwhelming majority of business's that are not trying to kill people.
