People complaining about food stamps are the first to get on them when the shyt hits the fan. 
@ this country. Billions to Israel and our military. But we have to cut a program designed to serve those living in poverty and suffering from malnutrition bordering on starvation. And let's not ignore the racial component. If there weren't a stigma assigned to food stamps that pushes the myth that mostly blacks live on them, these cuts wouldn't be occurring.

People don't own the land in urban centers to grow for their self. And bartering can only get you so far, cash needs to come from somewhere.

It has nothing to do with coming up with excuses. What you are proposing is not feasable which is why it is not being done. There are plenty of urban farms and that food always goes to the highest bidder, it's the way economics work in this country. Same goes for family owned grocery stores. They can't sell their food for cheap enough to the community because they have so much overhead in order to be in business.
Promoting misguided "solutions" just cause they sound good wont help anyone.

If we want the gov to do something then start a socialist revolution. If not, ,then shut up.
Not that I think we should cut stamps... If we have 1 penny of gov waste, ear marks, or over spending on the military or prisons... then we should be funding food programs 3x more than we are now. a bish w 3 kids should get over 1K. Period. 1 kid at least 550. anyway, i don't think stamps are cut tho... my hook up just got 700 on her card, my other bish just got like 6.. so idk what the fuss is about.
I live in urban/suburban area. Guess what--I used to grow food in my backyard.
It is possible. Get the government/law out of our business, and get going. We used to trade food with our neighbors.
The possibilities are endless.
What's misguided is thinking that the government can solve our problems--instead of us organizing as a community and solving our own problems
