The devs shot themselves by basing everything around a convoluted story where 47 is constantly on the run. Only a few missions (maybe 5 or 6, of like 20) have the similar open-ended feel of the old games.
Some of the missions just felt like they were there to push the story along. I found myself really not caring.
The disguise system isnt terrible when you think about it, even if there are blatant holes in the theory. I wish there just more instances where my heat was lower and I was able to walk around areas and just explore them without the immediate fear of being spotted and having to reload my save.
Overall, the good missions are good, and the bad ones are terrible. I give it a 7
Pros: Great visuals, high production values, tighter controls than ever
Cons: Lame level structure for the most part (I wonder why they decided to break certain parts up into segments vs full missions), too much pointless linearity, and an often hypocritical disguise system
