when you think about it, they wouldn't have beat the empire without obi-wan helping luke during that death star run. the planet would have been blown up and the rebel alliance would have been defeated and destroyed that day at the battle of yavin iv. so, in reality, the point about the rebel alliance defeating the empire without the help of the jedi is false...

really at every critical moment when the jedi intervened on the situation, the rebels won (and won in a major way). like at the battle of yavin and at the battle of endor. you think if the emperor didn't have his hands tied and busy with luke he wouldn't have attended to the situation on endor by sending vader down there? and if vader was there, they definitely would have been stopped and that shield protecting the death star wouldn't have come down...

Vader wasn't the problem.
i find your lack of faith disturbing. :obama:

obi wan was living vicariously through luke. his death helped secure that luke would become an incorruptible jedi unlike his father, helped the millennium falcon make its escape, and he became one with the force and was able to communicate from beyond physical life.

He became one with the force and thus helped shape and manipulate events and actions. That's as powerful as it gets.

Obi-Wan spent the years on Tatooine in seclusion + communing with the force + watching over Luke.

Yoda spent the years on Dagobah doing the same.

Do the books ever tell how powerful Leia is? In Empire Obi said something about Luke being the last hope and Yoda said there's another one and it cut to Leia. Did Luke ever train her or did she just stick to politics?
