It's not unprofessional; it's just a dumb question. Stern is too smart to justify that question with an answer.
word, if it was fixed he expected him to say yes

I'm no Rome fan, but it is some bullshyt that now he has thousands of people that think he is a wife beater now because they didn't understand the exchange
Stern needs to publicly apologize to clear the air, you can't have people thinking that, that is some serious shyt
In theory it's a good question.
In reality it's a useless question. No matter how much evidence of a fixed lottery piles up, Stern would kill the NBA if he ever justified that question with a response, yes or no. A no puts it in people's minds that it could be fixed (Why else would he answer such an unusual, "silly" question), and a yes obviously indicts him.
For all those asking if it was a legit question, you guys are seriously out of touch with this issue. Many journalist have come out and stated that they were in the room when the drawing was held. The journalist that were invited to attend the drawing had to agree with no communication devices in the room and if the needed to go to the rest room they would be escorted and monitored. Hell some of the journalist tweeted about this when it was trending on twitter about the fix was in conspiracy stuff.
So it was a legit question? No I don't think so, it was a question to spark ignorant conversation.

Stern could have handled it better and gave a detailed explanation why the lotto is legitimate. But whatever. When you act like Rome you're gonna catch a L every once in a while.
The point isn't necessarily to get an answer or even expect to get an answer. The point is asking the question! He may have gotten so flustered that he let something slip
What about the inner workings of the draft isn't known already? There's nothing he could say that would have people go "I guess the conspiracy talk was BS, the NBA has a pretty solid system"maybe he would have given more insight into the inner workings of the draft.

He may have gotten so flustered that he let something slip or maybe he would have given more insight into the inner workings of the draft. None of those things has a possibility of happening if you don't first ask the question. And honestly if enough people asked the question, he would have to address it. And not in a snotty dismissive way.
I mean its clearly a useless question to ask the commish of the NBA if he's fixing a lottery....
but at the same time there's really zero way of knowing if it isnt fixed.
Buncha house nikkas here.
What should Stern's response have been?Rome asked him straight up what we all think and stern reacts like I thought he would (guilty).
