Rapper 50 Cent Has Top-Selling First Album - NYTimes.com
Last week, his album, ''Get Rich or Die Trying,'' became the highest-selling first album on a major label since Nielsen SoundScan began tabulating record sales in 1991.
The album sold 872,000 copies in the first four days after its release nine days ago. It replaced the rapper Snoop Dogg's album, ''Doggystyle,'' which sold 803,000 copies during its first week out in 1993.
That was not his intro to rap though...50 had been in the game long before Get Rich or Die Trying...he was largely ignored at first...but when Snoop came in, he crushed everything out!
show me his MAJOR LABEL DEBUT
Biggie >>>>>>>>> "Ready To Die and all his features smashed the game"
Snoop >>>>>>>> "The Chronic and Doggystyle smashed the game"
DMX >>>>>>>>> "His debut and Sophomore in the same year as well as Belly smashed the game"
50 Had a huge impactful entrance, no doubt about it. But he rode Eminem and Dre's coat-tails and at that point Aftermath/Shady were on fire. Diddy didn't blow yet when Big blew. Snoop did have Dre's legacy also but he was the premier emcee. DMX hit the game like a nuclear bomb out of no where after grinding for years. Those 3 years eclipse 50 easily. Also:
Ready To Die, Doggystyle, It's dark and hell is hot >>>>>>>> Get Rich (Even though yes it's a Classic too)
Who the fck is Drake?
I will agree with you though. Remember in summer 2002 when Ja Rule was on the radio EVERYWHERE? Radio stations would even say that. We had pop and country stations playing Ja Rule. Hip Hop stations and R&B stations playing him. A year later he didn't even exist anymore thanks to 50.
