nelly:ehh:close thread

im from st. louis and no, nelly's entrance was NOWHERE EVEN CLOSE to 50 cents dominance of get rich or die trying... dont get me wrong people liked nelly and his music, but no one was goin around sayin shyt like nelly was the next pac, or quoting every verse from country grammar like they were doing get rich or die trying. but that was a good answer, but he wasnt as omnipresent as 50 cent was in his prime.

That was not his intro to rap though...50 had been in the game long before Get Rich or Die Trying...he was largely ignored at first...but when Snoop came in, he crushed everything out!

It was among the best selling albums of the decade, selling 12 million copies by the end of the year.[21][22] It remains as 50 Cent's best-selling album to date, with sales of over 8,000,000 copies in the United States making it the fourth highest selling rap album of all-time in the United States.[23]

In Russia, the album was certified 5x platinum, .:ooh:

Biggie >>>>>>>>> "Ready To Die and all his features smashed the game"
Snoop >>>>>>>> "The Chronic and Doggystyle smashed the game"
DMX >>>>>>>>> "His debut and Sophomore in the same year as well as Belly smashed the game"

50 Had a huge impactful entrance, no doubt about it. But he rode Eminem and Dre's coat-tails and at that point Aftermath/Shady were on fire. Diddy didn't blow yet when Big blew. Snoop did have Dre's legacy also but he was the premier emcee. DMX hit the game like a nuclear bomb out of no where after grinding for years. Those 3 years eclipse 50 easily. Also:

Ready To Die, Doggystyle, It's dark and hell is hot >>>>>>>> Get Rich (Even though yes it's a Classic too)

Who the fck is Drake?

I will agree with you though. Remember in summer 2002 when Ja Rule was on the radio EVERYWHERE? Radio stations would even say that. We had pop and country stations playing Ja Rule. Hip Hop stations and R&B stations playing him. A year later he didn't even exist anymore thanks to 50.

Yes, as much as I have issues with Drake in certain aspects of his career. I cannot deny that from 09-12 he had one hell of a run. If his career stopped tomorrow, there is no doubt that would be a pretty amazing run. But Drake run is not seeing Big, X, Snoop or DMX run cause he did not produce a Classic album. "Thank Me Later" is about 4 MICS at best. I'd also give "Take Care" about 4 though I know some people want to label it a Classic. I can't go higher than 4.5 but both his albums to me are about 4.
