Becky Lynch finally becoming the Sting to Charlotte's Flair was the easiest story to tell, and the one I think we were all hoping they were going with.
How does a company get it so consistently wrong after 18 years (and counting) of hemorrhaging viewers?
First, it has to be lacking in people who are actually connected to modern-day pop culture : Becky had put together an amazing character for kids, women in general and specifically the massive ComicCon crowd to lap up. She had the height, shape, face, promo ability, clothing, Bret Hart-like entrance (with the goggles) that made us smile every time... SHE HAD EVERYTHING, EXCEPT BEING NAMED FLAIR.
WWE's obsession with making Charlotte a face when she is clearly better suited as a heel didn't just cost Becky a run as the face of the women's division, it cost the company itself that. Ultimately, the company as a whole pays for these dumb choices.
Also, WWE seems to have a morality crisis, in that the people running the show see natural babyfaces as bad guys, and vice versa. It's almost like WWE itself is run by bad people who see themselves as good, and project that onto the talent.
I don't know about you guys, but they stripped Becky of everything I personally liked about her, just like they did with Asuka, just to make Charlotte the Roman Reigns of the women's division.
Charlotte herself deserves better than that. So does Becky. So does the audience.
