Some of the posts here are really mean. I'm a doctor and it's true when you're a woman wearing g scrubs, people always assume you're a nurse. I correct them if they ask, but it's not a big deal, people are sexist. It never occurred to me that because I'm a black woman wearing scrubs that the assumption is that I'm a CNA or an LPN. That's news to me, but yeah... people are racist so I get it.

I don't think there's anyone to dog someone who is making an honest living. While sometimes nurses and techs annoy me on the job (and I'm sure I annoy them lol), ultimately we're all on the same team and I am glad and happy when they do their jobs well. A good nurse is invaluable because I simply can't be there to watch the patients all the time.

And to the med student who was ishting on nurses, I think you should check your attitude. I remember my first week of working, a nurse saved my ass, I could have killed a patient had she not opened my eyes to an order I placed wrong. Now I'm a lot better, but nurses still help me put quite a bit. We're a team.

Fire & foremost, no one was "ishting" on anyones profession.
I didn't begin the mudslinging, but I'll sure return fire if you direct it towards my direction, which the aforementioned did (who isn't a nurse.)
And no, I won't "check" anything nor apologize for responding to assumptions about my character.

Whatever dude. You'll figure it out eventually. You still got a long way to go. *pats killer instincts head*

Kill the condescending drivel. Respect is a two way street and when it's shown, it'll be returned.
You dislike the direction this exchange veered off in, you should stop being a coward and go patronize the individual who decided to take the wheel and steer it in that direction.

I had an issue with me and a CNA getting into it because I wouldn't release any blood to her.

I had to explain to this broad how chain of custody works and how I don't care how busy the nurse is I can't release her blood because she isnt an RN...and that the Lab is an entirely different department, with a different rules that includes the nursing department not having any power me.
:mjlol:

Long story short, I had to call the doctor to get the RN come in to receive the unit.

The thing is that, CNA's and LPN's are needed very much, but at the end of the day know what you really are and be proud of it, because you can only pretend for so long.

For example, I'm a MLS imma get caught up claiming I'm that a Pathologist even though I do pathology work.

Last year I was working with someone and said they were a nurse, she was like :what:

Will never make that mistake again :wow:

I got mad respect for all medical related fields so I :salute: everyone

I personally would prefer more doctors with melanin, especially when I go to certain places and all the doctors are white/Indian and all the nurses are black but that may be for another thread

:mjlol: man they ain't making it out of intro chem and bio, let alone org chem and physics :whew:

But real talk easier said then done, being a Dr. Is a long and hard commitment; not to mention debt. And there's a whole lot of other socioeconomic and systemic factors at play which limits the number of doctors with a higher concentration of meloncytes.

Get it on the daily, people presume I'm a nurse (CNA not even RN) before even thinking I'm a doctor especially cac patients. Which is why I thoroughly get them together with a " I'm actually your doctor today" and pure silence. But I work in a clinic now majority of time in which I wear business casual outfit with my lab coat

Lmao this thread is pure hilarity :russ:

Ive never actually encountered this issue because there are practically no black female nurses where I work :mjcry:

The nice thing about being at an academic hospital is that when you are a tall, swoll, african looking ass nikka most ppl assume you are a surgeon :takedat:

From a medical student perspective, I always take the position of, I don't know shyt, nurse, will you show me how? Pweese? :lupe: Youre the best teacher ever! How can I help? :feedme:

Now you wanna talk about some mean muhfukkas? fukk around and get on the bad side of an experienced scrub nurse :mjcry: Them nikkas will get at your soul, "YOU BROKE THE FIELD GO SCRUB AGAIN!":birdman:Meanwhile, Im sittin there retracting like, "mother fukk this niga But otay, ill scrub in again for the third time" :mjcry:

I only really know bout dem RNs doe. And they got a union round my way and they make like 80-90K :whoo:

Yassss honey. Unfortunately, I expect that mess from white people. Sadly this thread is filled with pompous black people doing the same thing.

shyt is sad. You work soooo hard to get in, you have to have good grades anything other than A's & B's will hurt you, then you find out that you have to wait years to get into nursing school. I swear the coli is always shytting on any woman that isn't a nurse, as if becoming a nurse is easy or they should ashamed of being anything other than a RN.

RN or bust. Take you underachieving ass elsewhere.
