This is the thing with ghostwriting and the argument that I was sort of making in the Lil Kim vs. Nicki Minaj thread. If I am a rapper that hangs my hat on my lyricism more so than anything else, if I have been in the game for over 20 years, if I am in the conversation as a GOAT contender and someone makes accusations that I didn't write my shyt without hard fukking proof, then I want some blood money for that. You are trying to invalidate my career and accomplishments, and as a result damaging my reputation, I would sue too.

:wtf:

I didn't see a thread on here so forgive me if I need a late pass.

Apparently this article discusses Nasir having had some help to write an undisclosed amount of his rhymes.

My only qualm with the whole scenario, if true, is that given his track record with length between projects shouldn't he have ample time to serve up his own rhymes and not need ghostwriters?

Hell, he's a ghostwriter himself.. why enlist someone and potentially tarnish your legacy? :merchant:

Edit: A little off topic but I just got into it with the author of the piece about the comment he made about Biggie on Twitter:

Noah Caine (NoahCaine) on Twitter

FWMJ (fwmj) on Twitter

I guess dude is just a heartbroken backpacker. Explains why he came off the way he did in the article.

Damn, my cousin Cognito took the pic of Nas and Jay Electronica I wasn't expecting to see that lol. :win:

This is all I needed to hear in order to dead this ridiculous claim.

Nas Talks Ghost Writing on Big Boy's Neighborhood - YouTube

Anything from Dream Hampton is automatically deemed suspect. That bytch been a Jay groupie for a minute.

Dream Hampton is also a biased writer who wrote the review for "Blueprint" in Vibe, and tried to speak out both sides of her mouth by saying Jay took Prodigy and Nas out to the woodshed in "Takeover," but then stating that she didn't want to incite anymore violence so she'd drop speaking on it, and made this supposedly her last hip-hop review.

She also co-wrote Decoded with Jay, has been known to write ridiculous larger-than-life pieces and stories about her interview subjects (D'Angelo, Tupac, Jay-Z), while gently dissing their contemporaries in order to separate them from these figures.

She's also had claims that she ****ed D'Angelo, and Jay, and has been deeply criticized for her writing so much on Okayplayer, that her friend Questlove had to come in and defend her.

If we're going to speak on her accomplishments, let's talk about all the (justified, IMO) criticism of hers as well, ESPECIALLY as it pertains to this.

As far as Frank goes, I remember a few "Nas lost" posts from him in the early 00s, that's not to say that he didnt grow out of it. But once again, this doesn't necessarily mean that stic.man and Jay Elect sat down and wrote Nas verses.

Pretty much

thanks, where did you get that article from though?

I'm not saying it's not serious at all but to act like you have a court suit is retarded

Not in the music business...if he was a fiction writer OK but the line in music is too blurred

If I'm "unethical" based on that I'll be that

What's wrong with what he wrote?..they collabed for sly fox and Stic Man gave him a few beats...they also bounced concepts around...this was been known...he ain't ghostwriter nothin for Nas...

So it is true then? There's nothing "wrong" with what he wrote, it's just that when I read that I kinda saw the image of Nas telling Stic and Jay E what to write about, and essentially not writing it himself.

The bolded part below is what is interesting to me.

Stic's reply
As far as the rumors about myself and jay electronika ghost writing for Nas, let me say this. Nas is one of the if not the most prolific original lyricist to EVER do it. My contributions to his album was a collaboration and an honor and under his direction of what he wanted to convey and say. Haters cant discredit that man's genuis. Nas is the Don.

Why not just flat out say "I have never written any songs for Nas"? I just think it would have served Nas better if Stic wrote:

"As far as the rumors about myself and jay electronika ghost writing for Nas, it's not true."

All this will never really matter anyway, just throw Nas in with all the other MC's who have been accused of the same thing. It's a right of passage for being one of the GOATS.

By the way, I gotta say the way you're playing defense on this thread is commendable.

Then stic.man would be lying. He technically did w/ Sly Fox. He wrote the hook and bounced some lines for Nas and then Nas put his own twist on those lines

:snoop:..Stic Man collabed with Nas on Sly Fox..he already talked about this a million times...and they bounced concepts and he did 3 beats for the album...he spoke IN DEPTH about this shyt back in 08...

:what: ..no he didn't write for Nas...they built off ideas and he gave him a concept for a few lines and Nas wrote them
his own way...and he wrote the hook...he was gonna spit on the hook but they decided it would be better for Nas to do it...he didn't write Nas' rhymes...
