After thinking about it, I'd say Melo, Frank or Willy, a 2018 top 10 protected pick, and a 2020 top 7 protected pick would be as far as I go in a trade for Kyrie. Too much?
2018 would have to be lottery protected if you're going to trade it, and no 2020 pick either.

I don't see how it's the same assuming you can get him for - Frank + Melo + a pick isn't much for Kyrie.
It's a player you're already trying to get rid of, and an talented but unproven player for an All-star.
The Melo trade was nowhere near that - Chandler, Mozgov, Gallo, Felton and 2 first rounders for a player you could sign at the end of the season. The Knicks wont have the caproom to sign Kyrie when he's a FA thanks to the Noah + Hardaway deals and Kristaps being due for an extension after next season.
Yall missed the window to fragrantly tank because once Porzingis hits his stride either next year or the year after that you're not going to be anywhere near as bad as the Bulls, Nets, Pacers, Hawks, Kings or Magic.
I've seen the Knicks trade enough picks in my lifetime in which those picks turn out being great players. Knowing the Knicks we trade frank and a pick and frank and that pick become all-stars.
