I'm clearly uneducated on euro talent.

Was Hezonja similar in the hype surrounding Doncic or is there a consensus that Doncic is definitely in a different league?

-------------------------------------------------

On the topic of Jersey's though...

My favorite is the Nueva York jerseys.
Doncic is in another league according to scouts. He's more of an all-around player compared to Hezonja who was just seen as an athletic scorer. I watched him in Eurobasket and he seems like the real deal. Only thing is I can't see him defending quicker guards. I see him as a playmaking SG/SF that can run the offense in spots.

He's a clear top 3 talent unless someone balls out in College this year and moves up.

Doncic's hype from the Euro-world was around 2 or 3 years ago (fifteen year old getting pro hype is always gonna do that I suppose). That's how long heads have been talking about him and he's only improved since. The closest to that length of hype and build-up that I've seen is Ricky Rubio, but I'd say this is at an even higher level because Rubio was part of the eurofad where European players were lightly scouted but highly touted (I remember being hype to witness Lampe for example). Now, there's much better scouting overseas and if anything it's gone the opposite way where hyped European players get handicapped with fears of being soft or not translating to the American game. 100% agree with your outlook too, I don't see Doncic ever being more than average on defense and maybe not even that. But offensively, he's the type of playmaking wing that allows you leeway with your PG (and that's needed because most PG's are more scorer than floor general these days).

The standouts to me from the Euroleague were Doncic (has every tool in his offensive skillset...every single one), KP (has never looked more ready to be the man), Dragic (last run was one to remember) and Markannen (I may have slept on him tbh, his game is amazingly fluid and he brought a chip on his shoulder to the tournament).

Just to add on to this, Herzonja got hype because he's an unusually explosive european player.

Doncic has not just been a rare physical specimen (not as far as a 40 in vert, but moreso just how he's held up to battling against 25-30 year old men) - and has ALSO been a dominant on-ball player. Scorer and facilitator.

The way he bodied KP and then flipped the baby-hook over him, shows you how advanced his repertoire is.

(:23 here)

There's a very good argument to be made that he's the best player in europe right now. There hasn't been a time you could say that about an 18 year old, going back to... I don't know when.

:russ: First Rose, now Beasley.

I actually love the confidence in self and team but keep it close to your chest so you don't get clowned.:martin:

After that Rose comment, every step of the way it was thrown back at him.

He's right tho, the east is trash. If KP takes another steps, like it seems he did, then the Knicks could be a problem

There's a WIDE gap in time and talent between Lampe and Rubio and Rubio was heavily scouted.

We're definitely tanking this year.
We're not tanking. Too much talent on this team.

Atlanta, Chicago especially after Wade gets bought out, Indiana, Orlando, Brooklyn and arguably Detroit all have less talent than us. Atlanta is clear cut worse team in the league.

Nothing wrong with his statement. :manny:

KP is bound to make a leap in year 3, we added Timmy and Beasley to the bench, Hernangomez is a day one starter. I'm feeling optimistic.

The Knicks have no depth, no decent point guard( unless Frank exceeds expectations) and defense is gonna be bad next year. I think best case scenario, KP puts up numbers in an Anthony Davis type of season where the team sucks in spite of his efforts. my prediction, 30 wins with Melo, 25 without him.
