exactly..I dont know what these nikkas is talkin bout..I had both systems and all the great games as they dropped...I loved both but the SNES>>>>

I literally had EVERY major successful system...SNES was better than Sega with the exception of a port being better on the genesis every once in awhile (mortal kombat 1 was way better on Sega..2 and 3 were arguable depending on who you asked ..most of the ea sports ports were better on Sega...etc)

..super Nintendo had those colorful vibrant graphics ...genesis had a lot of ashy looking games going on Lol. The Mario series games were golden..all of them...let's not talk about that metroid and castlevania piff.

...shinobi series on genesis though :whew:

On second though...as far as exclusive games it might be more close than I first though..super Nintendo games definitely looked better graphically though I don't know how anyone can argue that...their games just flat out looked more polished to me.

But yea..Genesis a DID have some epic exclusives that I forgot about.

Real deal boxing
Greatest heavyweights
Shinobi
Vector man
NBA showdown
All the NBA lives
Streets of rage
Sonic multiplayer mode was fukkin CLASSIC
altered beast
Madden (all better on genesis)
RoboCop (what was outrageously gory Lol)
Comix zone

...Sega did have some heat man

SNES was the technologically superior system, by far.

As others have pointed out, the SNES was capable of a vast range of colors that the Genesis just couldn't produce. Even though the SNES processor only ran at 3.58 MHz, the system itself had secondary hardware which allowed them to use what were called Mode-7 effects. Essentially, scaling, rotation, and zoom. This gave rise to games like Pilotwings and Super Mario Kart, which simply weren't possible on a system like the Genesis.

honestly a lot of that 'mode 7' stuff looked like crap, and was nothing more than a gimmick. F-Zero was the first game I remember to actually put it to a good use

Why are people so overly concerned with hardware capabilities? You can still make an amazingly fun game with an inferior processor. Also, from a financial standpoint, Nintendo's approach to a lower-end console is actually a good thing for the industry since Wii-U developers don't have to take out 10 mortgages just to finance a game.

The reason why today's games are such shyt compared to the past is because developers are too afraid to take risks. When the budget for your game is $1,000,000 there's very little wiggle room for creativity. You essentially have to conform to the status quo and produce CoD clones all year round.

Hopefully Sony and Microsoft have enough sense to go the same route next generation and not make super powerful NASA hardware. At which point games will require financing from closeted bisexual Saudi billionaires. That's certainly not the world I want to live in.

I had a Genesis growing up, and I agree that SNES > Genesis in term of sheer numbers of classic games

That said, Genesis offered a completely unique gaming experience at the time that SNES simply could not do. Genesis didnt have as many games and third-party hits as SNES which is ironic when we look at it now. SNES' RPG collection >>>>>

Still, I maintain the visually Sega had a certain style that SNES couldnt duplicate. SNES had Donkey Kong Country, but Vectorman was pretty damn impressive for its time. I also found that the visual style of Genesis were better for most sports games I played.

If anyone is doubting the legacy of Genesis tho, cop Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. Its an insane steal cause you can get basically 90% of Genesis classics altogether for under 20 bucks

Son..I agree Genesis could do a few things better than SNES..but overall...SNES could do far more..shyt..simple shyt like Mario going behind the gate on Mario World...Genesis couldnt do...and u just CANT ignore the difference in color palette.. 512 vs 30 somethin THOUSAND bro...thats a HUGE gap...the games just looked smoother...more colorful. And sounded bettee on SNES...
