Agreed. That isn't to say he doesn't have plans or doesn't currently do something, but this air of "someone make shyt for us" where the buck keeps getting passed
Especially when it comes from folks with more money and connections than the rest of us

i just remember teachers showin us roots during BHM. we only had maybe 5 white students in the entire school, but they were all hunted--the girls too.

I just saw an interview with the producer of this version of Roots, who happens to be the son of the producer of the original one. He said one of the reasons he felt he needed to do is that his son said that the original didn't resonate with him. You're fukking white, of course it wouldn't resonate with you

He's right. We have tons of positive black stories that could be told but all we get is 'get ya ass whooped with dignity until a white savior character comes through and blesses you' tales about slavery. How dope would it be to have a historic epic about the Moors or a racially accurate depiction of Egypt?

I agree completely with Snoop, especially when he said we're still going through the same shyt today. I started checking out on these movies when the "white savior" became the narrative.

It's not to discredit what Snoop says, but ultimately movies aren't a public service, so nobody's gonna wanna make a movie just so people can say "man I'm glad that story was brought to the light" George Lucas funded Red Tails. How'd that work out? It's gonna take a long time for those movies to get produced with any sort of consistency, especially historical ones, because the demographic is real difficult to please.
