Snoop was THAT nikka and there’s literally no debating it. Honestly it’s the other way around. SNOOP gave Dre a second wind of life after NWA. They ended up making a great team. But there was NOONE that sounded like Snoop before Snoop.@spliz HOW OLD ARE THESE nikkaS?

@CHICAGO Honestly DMX did something similar to what Snoop did but with unknown producers so I see that point as well. Dre was dead in the water but he was still Dre. X had an 18 year old nikka and a completely unknown nikka and crafted a classic debut. Snoop had the longer career and sustained longer and that’s without question. DMX stifled himself with drugs and jail. Ruined his music and movie career. So it was more HIS fault he fell off than people not wanting to hear from him anymore. Still. He managed to drop 5 multiplat albums in a row. Both points are correct.

Dmx had more than enough help. Hell the whole Def Jam roster at the time was stacked. Hov Meth Red X Ja and even LL was popping. Marketing was amazing for all these dudes

Look at X’s first album. Dame Grease would be the main producer contributor. Now look at Snoop. It’s Dr Dre, the greatest hip hop producer arguably of all time. Both became legends off the strength of their debut albums but X did more with less.
He polished a stone into diamond. Snoop was given gems already. Snoop sold more but X made more out of less. Can you finally understand a simple concept?
