I WISH YOU nikkaS STOP PRETENDING
DRES NAME WITHOUT NWA WAS RINGING BELLS IN 1992.

NO nikka, IT WAS SNOOP THAT MADE
DRE AND DEATH ROW HOT.
IF WARREN G NEVER BRING SNOOP TO DRE
THAT nikka IS DEAD IN THE WATER
JUST LIKE HE WAS BEFORE HE DISCOVERED EMINEM.

BADBOY WAS ON RUNNING THE RAP
GAME IN 97-98
DR DRE AND DEATH ROW WAS NOT RUNNING shyt IN 92.

MONEY, POWER & RESPECT
WAS THE NUMBER 17 SONG IN THE COUNTRY
AND NOT BECAUSE OF DMX
UNLIKE "NOTHING BUT A G THANG"

stop it man

Dre created snoop and Eminem

he gave snoop a sound and he ran with it taught him how to use his voice snoop already stated that

he did the same eminem he created the Eminem hit record formula

Taught him how to make hooks

Eminem would be a meMiner of outsiders making backpack music without Dre

With Dre and Snoop, it’s not about just a “cosign” though. Dre gave Snoop the Deep Cover beat. Then all the shyt he was on from the Chronic. Then all of Doggystyle.

that was 100 times more valuable than a Lox cosign in 98.

Bad Boy machine at that time/being affiliated via collabo or whatever>>> Dre's status during Deep Cover era. Dre became thee Dr. Dre after the chronic/Doggystyle run, which Snoop was the face of.

Which is why I said that it wasn’t about the cosign or Dre’s status at the time. It was about Snoop getting legendary beats. Which is 100 times more valuable than a Lox cosign, or getting on features on Mase and Lox shyt.

Just thought about Camron. He’s a major problem for anyone to deal with. Can’t even think of a good match up for him.
Snoop comes out in 92 with Above the Law or CMW or Quik, does his career end up exactly the same?

No way. I lived through this. Snoop was a breath of fresh air with his own take. Dre blessed him with some hot features and hot tracks. They had the team. Death Row. Snoop was hyped as fukk that's Dre and the team. Snoop delivered on the promise. That's all Snoop. So yea, Snoop made himself but then again he was given lots of tools.

The closest case of this was 50 Cent. 50 heated up in the streets following the DMX model. Doing lots of features and street bangers. Then 50 got the cosign from Dr and Em. Then it was lighter fuel. MTV feature, Dre beats, Em features. Crazy hype and 50 really delivered with GRODT.

DMX didn't have that.

Not taking anything from either legend but DMX is a complete anomaly. He lived in the jungles and came out of nowhere fully formed. X struggled for 13 years before getting his deal. He was too street, too different. X came out and shifted the entire industry. The streets were back in a big way.

Yep Eminem released an album in 1996.. nobody cared..

Snoop was musically irrelevant for the most part when Dre left

only bad thing about this is the bar is set so high swizz and timbo aren't going to be using regular rappers with great careers to compete. It's gonna be nothing but icons so that means its gonna be cube, ll, busta, missy, jay, nas, em caliber or better. So the choices wind down. There's a reason swizz ignored TI and has shelved bone and 36 mafia for the rap game.

because he was already a developed artist lmao

back then artist were developed they weren't just nikkaz rapping that's why they were legends

DMX was one of the few acts who didn't need development, look how long it take Jay-Z to get to the point where he could make an album like reasonable doubt because he had to learn from experience and watching people around him

Snoop was just a kid, and listened to everything Dre said, and learned the craft on how to make songs, he had pure raw talent, but the knowledge from Dre is what put him over the top

yes because of Dre
snoop said himself Dre taught him how to make songs and harmonize with his voice

i dont believe this.

wasnt snoop already doing all this in 213??

he came up with nate dogg & warren g, and then was under the wing of above the law. but im supposed to believe that dr dre is the one who taught him how to make hooks??

Dmx had more than enough help. Hell the whole Def Jam roster at the time was stacked. Hov Meth Red X Ja and even LL was popping. Marketing was amazing for all these dudes

NO WAY JOSE.

youre forgetting that DMX saved def jam

when DMX debut dropped in the spring of '98:
jay's def jam debut went plat but it was considered a sophomore slump & dissappointment.
jarule was still underground
ll cool j's phenomenon album - im sure it sold well but it was never poppin. 4321 and the cannibus battle kept him afloat.
redman was a gold artist. his only platinum album came a year later, which was AFTER dmx lit the flame.
method man hadnt dropped a def jam album in 4 years, and wutang was already dwindling by that point.

meh

X gets too much credit for the bolded.

he didnt shift the industry. he just shifted the east coast.
the rest of the map never left the streets. no limit was the top label in the game at the time for pete's sakes.

I like the Fat Joe vs Busta.

I want to see Lost Boyz matched up with someone. Lost Boyz are not appreciated in this world. They were the original Queens street rap group. Maybe Lost Boyz vs Beatnuts?

Onyx also criminally overlooked. Naught by Nature would be a great match for them maybe.

Onyx was better than naughty but in a versus battle, naughty would destroy Onyx.

naughty by nature should go up against bone thugs-n-harmony. all the anthems and moments. that battle could be the group equivalent of DMX/Snoop in terms of the quality huge hits.

Onyx vs lost boyz would be dope but it would never happen on Verzus.

so busta rhymes and missy elliot are more iconic than T.I.P. and Bone?

bone thugs can get in on this actually......unless swizz is still mad at them.
3-6 mafia is the weak link. they didnt have the cultural impact. i never understood why the coli was pushing so hard for that chit.
like i said earlier, bone thugs/naughty by nature. BOOK IT DADDY.

TIP is definitely gonna get in on this.
maybe just not against 50 cent. correct me if im wrong, but i dont think 50 has ever responded to the challenge.

Of course he is

please explain how Common is an icon.

that term is reserved for a chosen few.
