Dmx had more than enough help. Hell the whole Def Jam roster at the time was stacked. Hov Meth Red X Ja and even LL was popping. Marketing was amazing for all these dudes

Not taking anything from either legend but DMX is a complete anomaly. He lived in the jungles and came out of nowhere fully formed. X struggled for 13 years before getting his deal. He was too street, too different. X came out and shifted the entire industry. The streets were back in a big way.

only bad thing about this is the bar is set so high swizz and timbo aren't going to be using regular rappers with great careers to compete.
