There's definitely some standout tracks but my criticism of the overproduced tracks is the same on second listen. It's like Dre was trying to make top 40 hits instead of west coast album that would crossover into the top 40.... too much "pop" sounding stuff for my liking

Snoop actually sounds great

I dont totally disagree with what you're saying here but i think it has a lot to do with Jimmy Iovines influence over Dre as well, even look at that trash ass Drink Champs.ep, imagine how dope a 2.5 hour DC with Dre and Snoop would have been in their regular format, but Jimmy cock blocked that and convinced Dre to do it as a listening party with a live audience, you could tell when Dre said "ah i didn't think we were doing the show this way" and Nore says "yeah me either" the tone and expression on Nore face says he wasn't impressed. But yeah, Jimmy has had a strong influence on Em making those rock influenced stadium songs I think, and to me it seems like there was a deliberate attempt to make songs on here that would work in stadiums and in car commercials as someone else pointed out. I fear a bulk of this album will be marketing music and rock/pop influenced stadium music.

Iovine have a formula of once he sees something work, He'll run that shyt to the ground... He saw how Hi My Name is blew up and he made sure Eminem start every album with that bullshyt... Remember that cringe ass Skylar Gray/Alex Da Kidd era? Plus Em was killing me with that yelling

I don't buy that Dre can't travel back in time. Yes, I don't expect him to sound like old Dre because his voice is done but production wise you can definitely go back and make a g-funk era style album that sounds modernized...

Kendrick just made a classic west coast album that sounds modern. It can be done.

Yeah he definitely has the mentality of going for the sure fire success, no balls to take risks, but if he would have taken some calculated risks he would have brought in even more revenue, case in point the Dogg Food album, he was shook to release that so Suge took it to Priority but it went double plat in the course of 1 year and that's with all promotion and resources being cut off exactly 1 month after its release (they even shelved the music video for "Respect") it had better first week sales than Me Against The World and the singles were doing well before they stopped working them (Let's Play House woulda been way bigger if they kept working it) so realistically his fear to take a calculated risk on that album cost his company millions of $$$...and hes a weird bald faggit but that's neither here nor there

Kendrick already paved the way with TPAB. Alot of that album sounded like modern day g funk.

Album is straight. Like someone said if you don’t go in expecting old Snoop and Dre you’ll be alright
Yeah, I don't know, I kind of like it even though it's not personally what I wanted. But that's how it goes. I do think it is missing a couple legit bangers which most Snoop albums have.

It also sounds much better in the car than in my shytty headphones, which is not how Dre used to mix shyt. He tried to mix it to sound as good on the shyttiest speakers as possible.
