I hate snakes like nothing else. If I could thanos snap them out of this bytch they would be first on the list.

Top 3 list of animals that body humans the most in Africa. 1 Mosquito, 2 Puff Adder, 3 Black Mamba.

Not necessarily true.

Anopheles mosquitoes are definitely #1, malaria alone is the #7 cause of death in Africa and they also carry filariasis.

Humans would be #2, cause "Interpersonal violence" is the #17 cause of death.

After that it's difficult to know because no one keeps stats, but all other animals would be a tiny insignificant blip in terms of total African mortality. Tsetse flies would have been a clear #3 until recently because they carry trypanosomiasis which killed way more people than any larger animal does. But trypanosomiasis deaths have been brought down by 90% in the last 30 years. So it could be tsetse flies, could be Aedes mosquitos (carry Dengue fever, Yellow Fever, Chikungunya, Zika, and Filariasis), or some kind of snake. We don't actually know how many snakebite deaths Africa has in a year.

You will find more African people that fear snakes than larger animal encounters. They are unseen and plentiful.
i fear mosquitos cause they prey on us and carry disease, why would i fear a snake? they reduce the risk of disease by hunting rodents, and the only ones that are dangerous/not terrified of us live deep in the ocean. the unseen aspect's overblown imo, shake out your boots before you put them on, etc.

I killed a snake with some brake cleaner and a lighter
breathe burning carcinogens to torture harmless animals, brehs

killed it due to your own ignorance
heard the same thing from a couple herpetologists, apparently ppl just randomly bring them beheaded snakes to id? one said that every example they'd seen in their career was nonvenomous and docile. :mjcry:

I disagree with shooting it in terms of killing. People are terrible at shooting into the ground at close range, and ricochets and other mistakes happen all the time. If you really really think a snake needs to not be in an area, then get an experienced snake catcher to remove it.
when i was a brehling my family didn't even have a phone to call the snake catcher, not that i'd ever need one cause all animals love me :youngsabo:

the risk of ricochet's nil unless you're using wildly inappropriate ammo (jacketed at rifle velocity) at close range, and the snake's chilling in front of a steel object or smth. also i really don't think anyone's dumb enough to be taking potshots at snakes with ARs or varmint rifles, but nothing surprises me anymore lol.

spall and splash are much greater risks with incorrect ammo, even if it's underpowered. i'd classify those as only mildly dangerous tho (which is still orders of magnitude more danger than a venomous snake presents).

anyway this is all moot if you're running the right ammo. my inebriated guesstimate is that a pellet of 22 ratshot would have under a joule of muzzle energy out of a 16", this isn't even enough to abrade skin.

edit: actually the whole spoilered section's academic too, there's no point in harming snakes to begin with. removing one makes you safer the same way taking a single car off the road makes your commute safer, another one will take its place right away.

Only snakes that I really worry about in southern California are rattlesnakes if it's cool enough you won't seem em but i had to stop taking my dog hiking because they were already out at like 7:30 am cause it's been so warm.

There's no such thing as a "diamondback copperhead". Those are two completely different kinds of snake that look nothing alike.

You probably killed a diamondback water snake, which is a nonvenomous species. And that story was sad as hell, you basically tortured an animal for an extended period of time for no reason and then killed it due to your own ignorance.

No nikka.

This was a highly venomous snake.
If some southern dude says it was some shyt.

Who am I to be like naw.

No it isn't.

The main problem with nikkaz is.

You to busy being a neg based pessimist about everything to do anything.

Sheltered as fukk. Goofie as fukk.

Plus you can not fool me.
As I know you not shyt at nuffin too
As we have hiphop and you never show and proved in four pillars in yo life.

Meaning it was four things you could have chosen to do.

Then excelled at none of it.

Now a nikka like me.

Makes the internet worth a dsmn. For what. To hear a bunch of failures talk.

I should played awol at work so this weak ass shyt never popped off.

Fa real.

To you pessimist goofies out there. Trying to naysay.
.shyt yo pessimist ass never did or gone do ass.

All the way the fukk up.

A baby snake out here would kill yo goofie ass.

You would not even know how to readily identify a poisonous diamond back or red copper head etc.
Yo goofie ass would be talembout it is harmless and I know you never been into it with no snakes ever.

shyt ain't no game.

This shyt real.

Maybe because the average southerner is the worst snake identifier on the planet and constantly kills nonvenomous snakes assuming they are venomous? :dead:

I want to repeat, you identified it as a "Diamondback Copperhead", which doesn't even exist. If it was a Diamondback Rattlesnake you would have called it a Rattlesnake. Copperheads don't have a diamondback pattern at all, so you almost certainly saw a harmless Diamondback Water Snake and got scared.

My daughter supposed to play guessing games and get bit and die tho.

No need to play guessing games, just leave it alone and nothing will happen. There are only 5-6 snakebite deaths in the entire United States every year and most of them were people who wouldn't leave the snake alone. You put yourself in far more danger with that ridiculous hour-long ordeal than if you had simply walked away.

Yeah, I've heard stories about dogs being bit in the face cause they don't know what to leave alone. If you're actually interested, there are people in SoCal who do rattlesnake avoidance training for dogs. I think they only have to do a couple sessions and the dog learns to identify the rattlesnakes by sight and scent and won't go near them anymore.

Yes, I could easily identify any venomous snake in the country, juvenile or adult, with zero uncertainty. And unlike you I would know its name. The only venomous snakes we have in this country are rattlesnakes, water moccasins, copperheads, and coral snakes, and they all have clear distinguishing features to anyone who studies them.

The fact that you haven't once even said how you identified the "Diamondback Copperhead" this whole time is more evidence that you didn't know what you were looking at.

My neighbor killed a snake.
My one encounter was at a park, where the snake was on this narrow bridge and no one could cross :beli:

A lot of parks around here have signs warning you about snakes (and gators)

I killed a black mamba in Kenya a few years back. I ran over it. It was near our ECP on the flight line. I was going to let it go but my coworker said you got to kill it.
:demonic:
I was in a Toyota Hilux. Revved up to run it over. The snake rose up to the hood of the car.
:merchant:
I didn’t know snakes can do that outside of the cobras. I was shook.
:damn:
Missed it twice but caught its head the third time. Should have taken pictures.
:leon:
The locals that worked on base would find them in the portta johns all the time. Imagine you about to use the bathroom and a black mamba is chillin as you open the door.
:whoa:
