But after 1989 there should have been some sort of restraint towards acknowledging a rich white man who has shown thru action that he aint thinking about Black folks like that at all. Slave owners were wealthy too, do we go around acknowledging slave oweners?? That example might be a lil over the top in comparison but it falls in the category not acknowledging white men who have proven they dont give a fukk about us.
you might as well stop listening to hip hop then. i doubt you'll find many who haven't name dropped a rich white dude or racist italian gangster. :yeshrug:

switch that line to oprah in all those songs and you'll have a bunch of brehs on here saying they're gay for comparing themselves to a woman. you can't win in these situations.

Breh fukking referenced a damn building...:stopitslime:

You forgot the Jay Z line where he brags about having a home in the Trump Towers

But yeah in response to this statement....I guess you didnt hear that Tariq Nasheed episode where he acknowledges never supporting Trump by going to any of his hotels or buying any of his condos

Thats just referencing as a rich guy, doesn't mean anything at all. I wouldn't be surprised if Diddy had a relationship with Trump but these lyrics don't mean shyt at all, its hardly an endorsement.

LOL @ name dropping not being an endorsement. :russ:

You guys know Donald Trump used to be as liberal as they come
thats because he is addicted to money and power. he will SAY and DO ANYTHING to get those two things. he will work with people he hates, he will hate people he likes, he will sell anyone out to get money and power. He is shockingly dangerous as a potential leader because of this. He has no moral compass...liberalism loosed up financial laws and rules for him so he was a liberal. Now he has generational wealth again and all he wants is power, thus, he is rallying the only party who is vulnerable to gain traction with, the worst part of the republican party. Its disgraceful they haven't formally denounced him. The RNC should be ashamed.

So you're holding entertainers, most having little knowledge or education to lofty standards of social & political awareness and morality? Breh just be happy if the line is slick, clever, rhymes, and is delivered with dopeness on beat.

I'm not holding these rappers to any standard. I'm just pointing out how, now that after Trump is really showing his ass during these GOP debates, all that previous tip riding and name dropping from rappers now looks off to the point were now u have those who were co signing him back peddling.

I'm not saying some rappers don't endorse/support Trump but those lyrics weren't good examples at all. Is referencing Addidas and Puma supporting the Nazis?

You're absolutely right. I just don't think it's necessarily fair to call out rappers back then for the vitriol he's spewing now

russell simmons quote is worse than any of the other examples because they're just using trump as a signifier of extreme wealth, not praising the man like simmons is doing

that e-40 song though :banderas:

KRS said, "When we say, look, Donald Trump was a friend to hip hop back in the day, so was Bill Clinton. It doesn't mean that because he was a friend to hip hop back in the day, that the same Bill Clinton wasn't at the lead of this mass incarceration of African Americans today," he added.

OK if those werent good examples then answer this.....why is it that one minute Ross is on a song co signing Donald Trump but as soon as he shows his ass during the GOP debates its death to Trump?

Or how Russel Simmons refered to Trump as his 'nikka' but once Trump started showing his ass during the GOP debates Russel all of a sudden wont be supporting Trump?

If those lyrics arent good examples then why is it that now all of a sudden with Trump showing his ass there is backtracking amongst those in Hip Hop?? It was cool to co sign Trump before the GOP debates...why all of a sudden the change??

YOU were talking about people.

Sorry buddy.....I cant co sign...the only Black person I remember recently acknowledging 'founding fathers' like that is President Obama(because he has to for political reasons) and Ben Carson(which again is for political reasons). Most Black folks I know only like the faces of our 'founding fathers' on dollar bills. In the 80's there was a good amount of respect for Lincoln but as time has passed that respect has withered away.
