Smackdown Viewership On FOX Declines Once Again

AEW is only matches, the overall criticism is that they're not doing much storytelling. The problem with wrestling now in general is that i'm seeing matches and promos/segments have been bushed. AEW had 6 matches but for the most part it's a bookend kind of deal, where imo the opener and main event are the only good matches. Look at every promotion from and you'll see that whenever they were successful was when they had a good mix between wrestling/storylines.

As for the WWE the structure of SD is all fukked up and they know better. They opened with a fun championship match but then followed up with a fukking Shorty Gable match, they should've followed up with Miz TV and then afterwards go into the 8 man tag match. The problem is that they don't seem to remember how to build up to the main event, and they're going to have to tell Fox that Lesnar as champ is hurting them as well.

That’s fair I guess if this is coming from a strictly American wrestling fan that only likes WWE.

I guess after opening my mind to NJPW where due to partly the language barrier and the fact with the way they book shyt. Looking at specifically NJPW.....

I’ve grown cool and accustomed to “only matches” and the storytelling to me is what happens in the ring.



I don’t need a 20 min promo or over 15 quick backstage skits.

I feel like sometimes they don’t need to conform to us maybe we need to be a little more opened minded to what these companies are bringing.

If a company can’t do what Lucha Underground did (though I hear Impact been trying and it’s fairly received) it’s best they stick to a NJPW format.

I watch those shows and get like one in ring promo at the end of the show and fine with that.

I don’t even know what Sanada sounds like but I was able to follow the stories in G1 when he was having issues with Evil and Naito. I got that Suzuki was PISSED he wasn’t in the G1 this past year and why he was doing what he was doing.

If you get decent commentators, they can fill in the blanks and do the storytelling your speak about

Yeah I dont know whats up with Wrestling as a whole. It aint popping on TV but a lot of stuff aint popping on TV but has a life on Digital content. Wrestling attedances are down which is a bigger indicator but more people talk about them and are active on wreatling related stuff in all the othe modern metrics

Fox is probably still gonna committ to it and Im sure they had to know of a decline coming but we'll see what happesn after 2024

The difference between FOX and the other shows airing on Friday night is that those networks are paying peanuts to run a story like 20/20 or a damn sitcom that nobody ever heard of..

FOX is paying WWE a billion+ so even if they win the night I don't think FOX is gonna be excited about the cost vs. what they're getting

I totally disagree with dude on this one. AEW is doing exactly what they need to do. I hate stupid backstage segments and 15 min promos to address what could be said in a few minutes. They are giving matches that make sense and are slowly building to their big PPV matches.

AEW looks and feels different from the overly produced stale format of the E's 2 big shows.

that’s fair.... i guess I’m just worn thin of all the “promos” and “acted out STORIES” that the E provides.

Like now if I do watch..... depending on the acts I forward through it..... ie Alexa Bliss promos.


There are only about a handful of people I’m actually going to sit there and watch...... talk

Most of the time the “talking” don’t really do anything to progress the story IMO.
