AEW is only matches, the overall criticism is that they're not doing much storytelling. The problem with wrestling now in general is that i'm seeing matches and promos/segments have been bushed. AEW had 6 matches but for the most part it's a bookend kind of deal, where imo the opener and main event are the only good matches. Look at every promotion from and you'll see that whenever they were successful was when they had a good mix between wrestling/storylines.

As for the WWE the structure of SD is all fukked up and they know better. They opened with a fun championship match but then followed up with a fukking Shorty Gable match, they should've followed up with Miz TV and then afterwards go into the 8 man tag match. The problem is that they don't seem to remember how to build up to the main event, and they're going to have to tell Fox that Lesnar as champ is hurting them as well.

That was a Fox call:russ:

If all Fox cares about is winning the night then they're fine, but at some point they have to stop booking like it's a hobby and not their job. Honestly if Stone Cold showed up and called out their shytty booking it would make them switch up real quick, because they really don't care what regular people or YouTube reviewers say.

It’ll never make sense to me why Fox would want the belt put on someone that won’t be on every show and won’t wrestle. He hasn’t done any promotion for WWE in at least 6 years. Strange. Fox should have someone on staff educated enough on pro wrestling to know Brock vs Cain doesn’t need the belt.

They don't do anything that makes you feel like you are missing something until they do that viewership will go down.
Yep, when I was a kid I never wanted to miss a second of WWE programming front and center to the tv. Now I been like:unimpressed: for going on 3-4 years. I don't know how cats can stomach the shyt they put on now.

Ultimately why there will never be another boom:unimpressed:

Since I say this in the AEW Ratings thread, I have to keep the same energy. If you look at this chart, their numbers in demos are still above the average of everyone else. Advertisers don't give a crap about viewers over 55, so FOX will be cool unless the other networks catch up to them there.

Though I will say that losing to CBS in that 25-54 age group is not a good look.

They made reboots for Charmed and Dynasty? :dwillhuh:

Speaking of CBS, they usually perform strongly in the adults 50+ demographic.

This is a very narrow definition of storytelling.

AEW have been following the New Japan playbook - which is to give the audience a tease of what's coming next either during a match or post match, rather than having the whole show grind to a halt for a chat show, which leads to a fight for example.

Vince had literally decades to set the definition of what wrestling is for the American viewing public. He had years with no-one threatening their position as industry leaders, and he made it this amorphous, bland variety show that he just calls 'Entertainment'. Times have changed since Wrestlemania I though, and America has gone through so many evolutions in the way TV shows are produced and consumed. Vince never changed though - he just keeps on hiring people who will tell him how much of a genius he is, even in the face of sliding ratings. Why do you think Prichard and Bischoff (temporarily) got re-hired?

Let's keep it real though - as much as Vince needs someone who can command mainstream attention, like an Austin or a Rock, he doesn't entirely want them - because even if he can squeeze them for a few producer credits, they can eventually leave him and go onto better things if they get over with the general public.

He's such a control freak, he'd rather have a roster full of people who might openly talk about how unhappy they are on social media, than grooming one megastar who gives him a white-hot four years and then bounces to Hollywood.
