Saw this same goalpost moving with CM Punks title run, where he couldn’t be expected to draw when having the belt for a year and getting as much or more screen time than anyone, and he needed to beat The Rock and Undeetaker before he could be expected to draw 
But this isn’t about Becky and Kofi, this has nothing To do with who’s pushed. WrestleMania still gets big buzz, but there are less and less people who will watch a weekly wrestling show. Because it’s almost always missable TV with no story where nothing happens.

No excuses, he was a shytty challenger. AJ needs a few months off. It’s Seth Rollins big face title run in his prime, they should ideally have the best matchups for him.
Diesel was champion for a year. JBL was champ for 9-10 months. As was HBK in 1996. No one is going to treat 2 month title reigns the same.

This has little to do with the champs
This has to do with the poor writing and over produced style they insist on using.
They have all the in ring talent they could ask for but they can’t write for any of them and they refuse to let them have more freedom with their characters.
I can’t get emotionally invested in anyone with these generic as promos and unrealistic way they deliver them. On top of that their are almost no gimmicks anymore and most of the roster is just a guy with one regular ass name. Of course people aren’t interested anymore
