We did slap boxing but like others said it was more like tap boxing...making sure we can keep our head moving and not get tapped.

But we also played body. Full force body shots to the stomach, ribs, solar plexus, kidneys, liver.

Eventually we just started boxing with gloves or barehanded. Because it's important to know who can take a punch and who can't.

There's cats in their 20's and 30's who've still never been punched in the face or only had them one or two school scuffles.

I remember this kid around the way came up with a style he called the cobra…in hindsight the way he positioned his hands almost looked like handicap man lmao but he was ill with his shyt…he’d be in a fighting stance with his hands up but instead of his fists balled up, his hands were flat out (palms down) to mimic cobras’ heads

This makes a tons of sense.

You actually have more hand speed when you throw the punch with an open fist.

Learned that doing a few sessions with some former boxers at work.

shyt always led to a real fight. Wrestling is one thing, but if you land a slap to my face, we’re not gonna be cool for the rest of the day. I’m either gonna tell you “stop playing” or we’re fighting for real.

I hope the younger generation abolishes this ridiculous antiquated practice.

They did which is why many of them can’t fight and just shoot

yall were on some bytch made shyt then.
i got knocked out several times while slap boxing growing up.
if you got 3 v 1 and all of them are trying to extinguish your essence
you will get knocked out. fukk around and wake up to the same 3
dudes still slapping you. holding you up like "Weekend at Bernie's"
landing open shots till they just get tired or you act like you passed
out again. sometimes you wouldn't even see the fist slap because it
came from behind and knocks you out one hitta quitta style. dudes
used to hop over the stall when i was taking a shyt and kick me from
above, they was wylin', couldn't get any worse i thought. wrong. one
day after my man was stomping on me from the top of the stall, he lost
his balance and fell on me as i'm sitting on the toilet. he lands on top of
me. the pressure on me from breaking his fall forced all my shyt out in
half a second. he stands up and starts slap boxing me. i'm like really, breh?
this is what we doing right now? i get smacked up, he steps on my thigh and
then my shoulder up to the top of the stall and starts kicking me again.

the dedication to the game :ohlawd:

Slap boxing gets me more heated than actual boxing

I used to be wanting to kill a mfer.

Almost knocked my cousin jaw off with one of those mma spinning backhands

I know what you talking about, that's why I never played those games back in Highschool. Slap boxing or Open chest, either a nikka would hit too hard or with open chest nikkas will legit think the game is always on or nikkas will want it to be one way and like to hit but not get hit back. I'd just shake my head when them nikkas started that shyt up, I was always an old man at heart.

Open chest? :dwillhuh:

Where you from? :gucci:

In NY we played open neck, way more :demonic:

And the game was on at all times :umad:

Far as slap boxing goes, an easy way to avoid it getting too serious is to have a certain # of slaps that declares a winner.

Me and my homies used to play whoever land 3 clean slaps across the face wins. Afterwards we’d dap/hug and no hard feelings afterwards. :myman:

If u just keep slapping each other with no limit, it’s bound to get serious :francis:

open neck was def a thing in NYC in the 80's-90's in school.
anyone could catch a hot slap to the back of the neck.
if the person who did it yelled out "open neck" then it was a wrap for you.
take that L and remember that.
one time in junior HS this kid brought a magnifying glass out on recess.
he got me lovely with it, burnt my neck for a second and then had a laugh.
after that he hands me the magnifying glass and i get the next one...:lolbron:

open chest was def a thing as well.
we called it "getting bassed." as in bass, that thunder sound.
you could catch a jab or hook to the chest and you would hear
everyone around say "yo, he got his chest bassed."

i saw it happen more than it happened to me but that shyt was real.
public schools in the Bronx in the 80's and 90's was wild.
