I actually don't think this is true. It's not how it's played out for other teams who have given their QB top money, and we already have all the key guys under contract until they've aged past another big deal. Since we gave Demo his money we don't have anyone coming due for a big money long-term contract on the roster right now other than maybe JJ if he balls out again next year, but with Aiyuk and Pearsall that contract shouldn't be necessary. We need to focus on drafting to backfill the older guys when they retire or move on, not making splash FA acquisitions.

Ain't we already losing Greenlaw? That's a pretty hard cut if you ask me. He was our best player in the playoffs last season. He looked pretty damn good on his return too.

The guy from that tweet is the same one that reported/made more public the Instagram post from Dre Greenlaw's wife about him "leaving" due to free agency.

I hear him talk about the Niners from time to time (he's a chill listen, knows his shyt when it comes to OLine play) and actually heard him today talk about this. He's basically saying that player's families do this shyt all the time on social media and that it doesn't mean what they post will happen. He uses the Deebo story to illustrate how negotiations change and emotional family members do what they do. (Edit: this goes to @calh45 post as well).

Having said all that, if Dre gets a good offer he's gone because we ain't gonna be able to match. The question is if he's gonna get that offer after his big injury. I think him getting a 1-2 year "prove it" deal makes the most sense. But if someone like DeMeco wants to pair him with Azeez, we probably fukked.

Schwartz would be the logical disruptive choice as it would be a big overhaul of the defense and a guy that would demand having autonomy to run his new scheme. I don't see it happening for that same reason but if Kyle was truly humbled by 2024, getting Schwartz would give him not only a top DC but also somehow that would also help him figure out new ways to run the offense, as he's owned Shanahan for years

If we are not retarded enough to give the gig to Staley, I think Ulbrich is gonna be Kyle's choice though. They wanted him last year but were blocked by the Jets and Ulbrich has praised Kyle before + he'd be coming home.
