Your thinking of "use it or lose it" which happens with synapses. Im talking about losing a whole part of the brain but still regaining their functions.
I've heard of a kid losing one half of cortex at the corpus callosum and the brain rewires the remaining half to function like a full brain but I've never heard that being possible in an adult
