This is from an article that was posted in dime mag some years ago:

“I like how Tim Duncan plays. I like how he just plays hard.”

You blink. It’s like Batman just mentioned his admiration for Superman.

“I remember one time Kevin Garnett was mushing him, and shoving him in the face; and Tim Duncan didn’t do anything, he didn’t react. He just kicked Kevin Garnett’s ass, and won the damn championship. You know what I’m sayin’? That’s gangsta. Everybody can show emotion, dunk on somebody, scream and be real cocky; but Tim Duncan is a…he’s a pimp.”

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?

WOULD HE STILL BE SEEN AS THE GOAT PF
IF THEY SWAPPED TEAMS/COACHES?

TIMMY IS THE GOAT PF,
BUT KG IS JUST AS GREAT OF A TALENT.

ONE JUST HAD A BETTER SITUATION THAN THE OTHER.
IM MATURE ENOUGH TO REALIZE THIS NOWADAYS.

5 YEARS AGO I WOULD HAVE BEEN shytTING ON KG.

The issue is that their games are different and the one area where Duncan has been clearly superior is in the low-post, and that lends itself to more success than KG's game. That team in 02-03 with KG on it in place of Duncan does not win the title, he stepped up in big games more than KG ever did, and closed teams out.

His post game was just too vicious...

No No and No. This is not about hte situation they were placed in. This is about one player being far better and more important to winning than the other. It is easier to put players around Duncan cause he is a back to the basket low post presence and has been one since he came into the league. Duncan's presence allows players like Bruce Bowen to even be on the floor, because he creates open shots for them that they could not create for themselves. KG was never able to do this. Thats why KG required so much around him for success, when Tim did not. Thats why the front office looks so good, because as long as u can get players that can do one thing, Tim can help mask that deficiency on both ends of the floor. KG cannot.

And this is why your posts regarding this topic make absolutely no sense. It's way too important to not care about.

In the grand scheme of things, you need a complete team to win A TITLE.

But we're talking about the 1st round. Come on, the Nuggets beat the Sonics in the 1st round before. No one expected Mutombo to lead that team to a chip but at least they were able to win a 1st round series.

Garnett had how many chances? And only 1 out of those 10 plus opportunities was he able to win a single series? And you're going to blame it all on the coaches and management? Coaches can only do so much. Ultimately it comes down to the players. KG was the leader and he led his team nowhere.

KG was never able to do this.

He wasn't able to get his teammates open shots? What league were you watching?

So in other words, it's KG's fault for not being able to carry a team that nobody else could carry if given the opportunity. Got'cha :childplease:

If you can't understand why management is at fault, you're clueless. If I put a bunch of Yeshiva League players around you and you can't win, whose fault is that? Yours or mine?

Good enough "help" to get to the playoffs but not good enough help to get out of the FIRST ROUND more than ONCE? I could see if in those years he was pulling them to a 7th and 8th seed year in and year out but they weren't, they were higher seeds in some of those season. :stopitslime:

Thank you! This man is acting like we're condemning KG for never leading the T'Wolves to a chip. We're talking about the first round. This dude is making it seem like only the all time greats get out of round 1 .

I don't agree with him on that obviously, KG is one of the best and most versatile players I have seen and definitely has a legacy.

Eh...legacy is kind of some semantics type shyt. Someone like Bill Laimbeer has some legacy at least. So yeah I can say KG has a legacy as someone with one of the most versatile skillsets the league has ever seen, a consistent top performer, and a great leadership presence. I meant more legacy as someone of elite stature. In the post-Jordan era, I'd put him on the 2nd tier under Kobe, Duncan, Shaq, and Lebron. Fair?
