Let's not act like KG was on a shytty franchise while Duncan is on one of the greatest franchises of this era that caught some GREAT breaks to build their team thru #1 draft picks and another high draft pick in Sean Elliot.

What Kidney man got to do with Duncan, they won 1 ship together. And Elliott was drafted back in the late 80

Uncertain grounds
Duncan was put into a much better situation, with a much better coach than Garnett, but it is hard to discount Duncan because of it. I think people underrate the value of Pop here...what would be the case if the Spurs drafted Garnett and the Wolves drafted Duncan? I think that's the real question here.

Is it his fault that he got stuck on a shytty Minnesota team, while Duncan came to the league and got paired up with a future first ballot hall of famer???????

I won't even respond to the idiots who's saying Pierce legacy is greater than Kg's
Let's just pre-emptively dead this conversation before it even starts. Yeah, David Robinson was a great player, but he was clearly past his prime and lost some explosiveness. He was 34 when Duncan won his first ring. But he was still a very good player. However, their back court was Avery Johnson and a 36 year old Mario Elie. Think about that for a second. Duncan won a ring with a back court of Avery Johnson and a 36 year old Mario Elie.

On the 2nd one, Duncan pretty much just carried that team on his back. They had no viable consistent 2nd scoring option. The 2nd highest scorer on that team was David Robinson, 38 years old and averaging 13 points. That team wasn't much better than any of the Minnesota teams Garnett played with. It's not like Garnett had nobody. He had Wally Scerbiak, Billups, Gugliotta, Marbury, and Sprewell. Even Troy Hudson got off in the playoffs one time. Yet somehow Duncan kept getting rings and WCF appearances and Garnett kept losing in the first round.

Much is made of Parker and Ginobili, but let's not act like they were always all-star caliber players and didn't take development. The only time Duncan won with those two both being consistent all-around threats was 07. Ginobili came into his own in about 05. Before that he was an erratic spark plug off the bench who make some spectacular plays occasionally and a lot of wild, reckless mistakes too. Parker didn't develop a jumpshot until 07. Before that, he was just a slasher...a good slasher, but one-dimensional. That's why in 03 he got benched in the finals in favor of Speedy fukking Claxton, and in 04, the Lakers doubled Duncan and dared him to shoot open shots and he couldn't hit shyt.

The one constant was Duncan...he got it done 4 times with different supporting casts. KG couldn't carry a team as the man floating around the perimeter, playing euro ball shooting 18 foot rainbows. He didn't really start putting in work on the block consistently until he got on the Celtics. Let's not even talk about how Dirk abused him in the 03 playoffs. Dirk SONNED him...averaged 33 and 16 and was dunking on him and shooting jumpers in his face and they swept him. KG might be the GOAT 2nd option.

That's a better debate...KG vs. Dirk. And at this point, I'd put Dirk over him based on how he carried that team of aging role players to a title last year. If you want to talk about who's the best player since MJ retired, Duncan, Kobe, or Shaq, that's a conversation to have. Duncan vs. KG? Nah...not debatable.

I would rip Victor Von Doom to shreds, but he's a Spurs fan. I hate him, but I understand.

:aicmon: How you hate me over shyt I say about sports on a message board? I'm not a fanboy, I'm objective. I'd say Duncan is the best big man of the post-MJ era, though you can definitely argue Shaq, and I'd put both of them behind Olajuwon.

Rip me to shreds about what? KG is not the caliber of player of Duncan, period. That's common prevailing opinion among knowledgeable fans, players, and coaches.

He hit the big shot that allowed them to get there. And Robinson was drafted before him. My point is the organization was very good. The only time they sucked was when Robinson was hurt and that allowed them to win the lottery and get timmy d. Duncan is great (pains me to admit), but lets not act like organizations arent important in winning chanpionships. The Spurs are a well run org and the Timberwolves should be contracted along with Toronto, the Bobcats and The Cavs or something.

Are you honestly going to say KG is a player you're going to look back on and discuss his legacy and impact on the game? I'm not hating on him, he's a great player, a first ballot HOF, and was put in an unfortunate situation in MN. But when you think of the recent era, you think of Kobe, Duncan, and Shaq, and later on Lebron. KG's whole career before 08 is forgettable.

Yes you are.

Really? The big shot that allowed them to get there? You mean the ONE three pointer in game one of a series we swept?

Basically it comes down to this

Duncans technique and mentality vs KGs athleticism and aggression

Kg trash talks Duncan, Duncan gives him the blank stare. Hits shot off the backboard

Captain Jax sly elbows KG, KG turns sees who it is, then goes lookin for Big Nose to try and intimidate instead

 @ anyone dissing KG. In his prime, KG was considered the best player in the NBA and was viewed as a revolutionary player at the 4-5 spot. :wtb:

What the fukk is wrong with some of y'all?:what:
