TYRONE GA!
KG is immensely talented, but his style of play doesn't translate into W's the way someone like Duncan's does because he doesn't have the type of back-to-the-basket game that gets consistent high percentage looks and collapses the defense and frees up cutters and shooters.

:to: VVD just ethered this thread. :to:

KG still a top 10 PF all time though with his jumpshootin ass.

As someone said earlier in the thread, we will ALL definitely miss them both when they hang it up. For my money the top 5 PF's of all time are, Duncan, Dirk, Barkley, Malone, and Garnett, with McHale and Elvin Hayes on the outside looking in.

I think I'd put Dirk over KG at this point after last year. Dirk put two of the worst rosters to ever make the finals on his back. It took a herculean performance from Wade and the refs to keep him from winning both. Dirk ain't close to KG or Duncan defensively, but his offensive game is freakishly potent and his puts up big numbers in the playoffs consistently. KG vs. Dirk is more debatable than Duncan vs. KG.

was it mentioned in this thread that KG said to Duncan on the court "Happy Mothers Day" right after his mom died?

I totally forgot about that.

Here is a partial list of the NBA players who dunked more often than Tim Duncan this season: Gordon Hayward, Landry Fields, John Wall, Byron Mullens, Trevor Booker.

Timmy's swag is his lack of swag.

Inadvertent swag:

One story among many: In the fall of 2003, during the Spurs' preseason training camp, most of the players stayed at a local hotel at the team's behest. Ferry and Steve Kerr, however, decided to commute from their homes. Both were nearing the end of their careers and had kids. They figured the hotel was intended for the younger players, to keep them in line.

On the third day of camp, Ferry and Kerr pulled up to the practice facility just as the team bus arrived from the hotel. A succession of rookies exited the bus. At the rear was Duncan, six years in the league already. He took one look at Kerr and Ferry. "Wait a second, are you guys staying at home?" Duncan asked, incredulous.

"Yup," said Kerr.

Duncan's eyes got wider. "You mean you can do that?"

Ferry stared back at him. "Tim, you're the league MVP. You can do whatever you want."

for me i have always like KG's game compared to Duncan's and even try to emulate Kg's game when I would play ball, but Duncan is just on another level though. I have KG as the second best PF, so I don't think it's bad to be second to Duncan. But, whose game was better as a whole, you gotta give it to Kg and he is much more versatile, but Duncan on that block and low post in his prime is something else though. Also, if we are going with who had the better MVP year, you gotta go with KG. Eventhough Duncan gots 2, but KG in 04 was a beast and was one of the most underrated MVP's of the decade. The dude was getting 24, 13, 5 with 1.5 steals and 2 blocks while also shooting 50% and close to 80% at the line. That might be one of the GOAT and most versatile MVP's years I have seen and witnessed. Duncan has had the better career due to the rings, but if we just remove the ring argument the comparison is much more closer and more debatable.

:wtf:of all time?
garnett is not better den karl malone or barkley and its debatable as to whether hes better den dirk.
hes definitely top 5 of all time though.

This is Artest's quote from way back regarding the incident...if you google it it seems to be a bit of an urban legend, but most think it happened

I remember one time Kevin Garnett was mushing him, and shoving him in the face; and Tim Duncan didn't do anything, he didn't react. He just kicked Kevin Garnett's ass, and won the damn championship. You know what I'm sayin'? That's gangsta. Everybody can show emotion, dunk on somebody, scream and be real cocky; but Tim Duncan is a ... he's a pimp.
