Because Cuba being a Russian vassal was solely a move to piss of the US, while Ukraine being part of a mostly European defense pact is completely justifiable

Let's not forget that NATO is a defensive organization. Why should any small Eastern-European state want to attack Russia? It just doesn't make sense. Missiles in Cuba during the height of the Cold War was a completely different animal.
