yeah but the handful of rigveda you might read could fundamentally change your whole life (similar to any holy text)

but here is the catch, there are fictional texts designed to do similar things...yet they are allowed (see LOTR, Harry Potter, etc)

:jbhmm: so if you knew that your son would become a devotee of Vishnu instead of Voldemort its ok
We never studied Harry Potter or Vishnu when i was in school. but like i said the purpose of an elementary education isn't to change your life fundamentally. It's simply to give the tools needed to start a career or pursue a given passion. If you want to devote your life to vishnu, thats fine. Learning how to read in school will assist with that, so you can pursue that path after you finish school. And if you don't care about Vishnu, reading can still benefit whatever other path you choose. Spiritual enlightenment is a personal journey, not an academic prerequisite

that wouldnt be the case if we were talking antiquity

academia is the residue of faithfulness and peace, as it wouldnt exist without it

so as i said in an earlier post: thats your opinion

as long as you take a personal bias against any particular text for one reason or another, a counter argument can be formed the same way

I dont believe elementary school is designed to start a career or pursue a passion, but to learn to communicate with society. Once that bedrock is established deeper understandings of those connections are explored in middle school and furthered in high school. Yet none of those three get students ready for a "career". Even college does a poor job of that. A career is a arbitrary idea that may disappear as you know it. The industrial revolution and its concepts are small slice of human history. My child isnt a cog for you or anyones machine :wow:
We are living in a world of illusion

:deadmanny:Wow. By this logic atheists have no reason to go to school.

You clearly have missed some key points. Nobody is going to spoon feed you...At this point you should be ahead of where you are at.
:comeon:
That just reads like you don't know and you are trying to deflect.

I didn't huh? It all starts with Genesis.
Now, I have read Genesis several times and at no point do I remember reading about any relating to what evolution has presented. Give a verse and I would gladly read it.
I posted a video of Dr Bart Ehrman having a brief discussion about Genesis and he presented some things I never thought about before.

Here it is again

Read the book "The Unseen Realm"

There's many others to help explain it to you. But until you start doing (reading), you won't understand anything.

And if you come with another argument I'm just going to think that's all you want to do, and leave you to it.
