No... claiming the community you haven't lived in for years is strike one. Going to back to do work in that community is a good goal.

I agree.

But going back to do work is noble, but I don't think it's effective.

Communities are based on economics, so coming back every once in awhile to take part in a few pet projects doesn't really accomplish much imo. Living among the people and spreading your wealth and intellect helps the people.

Im speaking on creating jobs and sustainability like having grocery stores, gardens, programs for trained schools in the community

I don't think it's necessary for successful blacks to move into the hood right away but as a collective they can provide their talents and resources to help the disadvantaged communities in their area. In time as the communities improve those successful blacks can gradually move in so there's less worry about security or anything like that.

Investment is important.

I don't think anybody is obligated to live in the hood just because they're black, especially if they have kids. That's kind of silly.

But it is a good thing for successful black people to invest time and resources into improving things in disadvantaged neighborhoods.

I feel the brehs talking about having kids, shyt changes a bit once that's a factor, but thread got me thinking... I mean we've far too often how the hood can become gentrified, the poor get driven out and suddenly it aint "the hood" anymore... white people see an opportunity and "danger" or not, they'll capitalize on it. Why couldn't middle/upper class blacks do the same and re-solidify the community? Just throwing that out for discussion's sake. :manny:

If you're an American that is about living ignorantly you're in chains that few people are going to be able to help you overcome. Right now, via the internet, via fukking youtube you can learn how to do practically Anything that as a trade will make you money. Some people have excuses, but brothas in America, do not.

If you can afford to get out the hood, regardless if your single or have a family, do it. You want the best for self and family. That "keepin it real" b.s. Is for the birds. I remember Rhyme and Reason, Ice T and Eiht was like "hell nah, I'm getting my family out the killing fields". And what's with this serving shyt? What do you mean, like setting up programs?
