lack of opportunity =/want

it's also been shown that most people who work minimum wage jobs aren't teens/college students the later has relatively high unemployment.

so you're trying to tell me what I experienced, wasn't what I experienced?....come on...he asked for proof and I gave him the proof I have from my experiences...true, lack of opportunity doesn't equal want, but what I talked about wasn't those...I experienced what you're talking about too: people that were working those types of jobs cause better opportunities hadn't presented themselves...

true, that's why I said the jobs should be for those kinda people (teens, college students, etc.; look at my initial post)....now, I can say, the majority of people I worked with in those kinda jobs were teens, like me

No, but what you have experienced is just anecdotal evidence that is not true reflection of society

didn't say it represented all of society, just represented what I've experienced...but since you seem to know the true reflection of society, where is your proof? enlighten me with this evidence...and then answer my questions about other wages and where does it stop...

Can you get your head around why this doesn't matter? If you can't....

i'm all for people getting money, but where does it stop?....if min wage is raised, what about the rest of jobs? if they raise min wage, that means they should raise others salaries too, right?...I don't make min wage (I have before, talking about 4.25/hr, not now), yet my salary is still bullshyt...I work more than 40 yrs a week for a set in stone salary; and I get taxed out the ass...I'm barely making it, but my company isn't raising wages...hell, even though they making money, they just froze wage increases for the second time in the last 5 years; but they asking for more work outta us....now, the reason for that lil rant is to ask: where does it stop?...it's called min wag for a reason...people shouldn't be trying to live off min wage, and that's what people are trying to do...I understand life is tough and circumstances can cause shyt to happen, but it shouldn't be your goal to work a min wage job like it's a career....and that's what it seems people want to do...min wage jobs should be for college students, high schoolers, the elder, and muthafukkas down on their luck/in a hard place...not for people trying to live the good life...

Blame the Economy for outsourcing all the good paying jobs.

why doesn't it matter?...if min wage is raised, that will affect all wages...companies will either have to raise, freeze, or lower wages; it'll have an impact on benefits; it'll effect all employees...

Question: where do these arbitrary numbers come from $10, $12... Why not just make $30 if it doesn't hurt us?

If $30/hr sounds crazy, then you know raising the min wage can do more harm than good, and are just eschewing good sense and letting emotion take over.

I'd like to see us address the lack of skilled workers, not make unskilled workers receive skilled pay.:yeshrug:

And 1million people isn't as much as you think...

C: Cut the CEO pay. Look at her. Look how happy she looks. She didnt build that.

That too. No one would like to work in a minimum wage job in a small business. :scusthov:

What did I assert? That raising the wage hurts the economy? :ld:

:patrice:That would mean you think it wont... so my question stands, why not make min-wage $30-$50/hr if it doesnt cause harm? :skip:

Nevermind. :snoop:

Sometimes I forget that Libertarians aren't capable of thinking outside of their ideology. But my point was that you're using a baseless extreme hypothetical that nobody suggested and using it to try to prove that the idea itself is bad. This is like saying that having a single beer is unsafe because if you drink 20 beers you'll get alcohol poisoning.

Not really the same at all, I was/am asking does raising the min-wage hurt the economy?(which was suggested) If it doesn't, then the number doesn't matter...

I think what you are trying to say is $12/hr wont hurt but $30/hr will? :ld:
If so, you are admitting it does hurt the economy, but you think we can raise it a little without too much pain...

My ideology has nothing to do with it... yet. :mjpls:
