I knew that was a lie when he wrote it. I am also pretty sure that Lagos has a lot more homicides than some 330 something per year.

Im lying? Lol the same article you quoted in your post states that the figure of 1000 is over a 4 month period in Nigeria as a whole. You didn't even read what you posted?
Do you have anything to dispute lagos' homicide statistics? Are you still going to argue that it's more dangerous than a city half it's population size with double the homicides?

Slavery was the norm pretty much everywhere on earth. You need to realize that for most of history, the winning/dominant tribe would enslave the weaker/defeated tribe. Europeans were enslaving, castrating and selling other Europeans in slave markets in France, Italy and elsewhere. They would even sell their fellow Europeans to their Ottoman, Arab and Persian enemies.
There was no such thing as a "white race" or a "black race" back then. It was all about ethnic/tribal identities. A person from a different/enemy tribe was seen as foreign despite that person's skin color.
Point is, you can't apply our modern understanding of race to a society that did not have the same understanding.
