Exactly, some of the replies here are comical. She tried to ram her way into one of the most important areas in the entire world, tried to run over law enforcement officers, and was speeding around recklessly. Normally I'm all fukk the police, and while I think the amount of gunfire was highly excessive, they aren't at fault in my opinion.

What's a fault is the state of mental health help in this country. Reports are saying that this woman had well known issues.

Sad story all around. Hopefully one day we'll have proper health care and progress can made on some of these mental issues.

Can't really fault the police for shooting her given the way she was using her vehicle but the reports about the amount of gunfire heard/observed is just crazy. Lucky that little girl didn't get hit.

Well you have to fault the police. They need to stop making bad mistakes out of fear all the time. If they are telling the truth that she was shot after exiting the car, do you really honestly believe doing something like that was necessary? Especially after they knew a child was in their. The whole "they thought she would have listened to them when they asked her to exist" as the reason why they did not surround the car better when it was stopped by the steel pillars also needs to stop. If they did the right thing then, then the little girl would still have a mother who would definitely need to seek treatment, but at least she would still be alive.

Why the need to be so trigger happy all the time? Surprised nobody has mentioned this, but if it was true she got shot exiting, they really could not have shot her in the leg? I hate this whole "In situations like these cops often don't know if the shots are coming from the suspect or one of their own so they all start shooting is just mind boggling". There needs to be better training.

The area was secured, she obviously isn't getting anywhere near the White House....they could not have handled this better? Its disgusting

A car IS a weapon. If someone swung a baseball bat at you, would you not consider it being used as weapon? The video clearly shows reckless driving and when you mix that with the fact that she was trying to ram her way into the fukking White House, it makes it a proper use of force.

Man, you're talking to the wrong person about badly trained police and police abuse. I think I made it very clear where I stand on those issues.

The situation was handled well in my opinion, aside from the amount of rounds used to bring her down. The video clearly shows them pointing there weapon to get her to stop and exit the vehicle.

So here is how the event looks in real time

1) Someone is using their vehicle to try to forcefully make their way into the White House
2) Cornering and drawing weapons on this person did not make the person comply
3) Reckless endangerment of police when she left the scene (on video)
4) Driving around speeding and driving reckless

There's plenty of justification there.

They didn't fire a single shot in the beginning of the video. Do you have a source where it shows that they fired on her immediately?
