I have a question for those who are familiar with the force. Is aiming at the person rather than the vehicle, the text-book procedure ?
I thought it would have been more logical to shoot the tires in order to freeze the car, so that's why I'm asking.

If the officers are on foot and have your car surrounded its a wrap. Give up or get shot. Cars can still move with the tires shot. That aint stopping them from getting run over.

The thing is, its easy for us to sit here and watch a 30 sec clip and say what they shouldve or shouldnt of done. We can watch it over and over. But for them they didnt know the exact threat they were dealing with. What if she had a bomb in the car? or was a distraction for somethng else?

I bet if she drove off and hit a few people, they would be getting the blame for not stopping her. no win situation for them.

Exactly, some of the replies here are comical. She tried to ram her way into one of the most important areas in the entire world, tried to run over law enforcement officers, and was speeding around recklessly. Normally I'm all fukk the police, and while I think the amount of gunfire was highly excessive, they aren't at fault in my opinion.
