At this point I'm waiting to see just how much is "adapted"...this tweak with Lady Ochiba takes off in a different direction than the book.


But adaptation or no, Blackthorne isn't the white-saviour "hero" in this story and never was. Clavell never took that approach.

Game was often hung up to let the juices settle in preferred areas and make the meat less tough. These are people who had no idea of spices/seasoning. That's one major reason for their push into other lands in the first place, access to those spices and the money to be made from them.

I’m not gonna front. I would have loved to watch this show without a white protagonist. Only them playing the background. The acting from the Japanese cast has been excellent.
