These privatization failures are so predictable brehs, it's like clockwork.

States sign contracts with the owners of these private prisons and are obligated to keep them at 90% capacity (% may vary from state to state).

this means that people are being arrested and sentenced in order to fulfill a contract...that's fukked up.

wait wait...but shouldn't the free private market fix all of our problems?? :sadcam:

Reading the details from several different sites, and this sounds like the result of overcrowding. Nothing more, nothing less.

Granted a state run prison could just rob tax payers of the needed extra cash, and tout the pleasant living conditions of inmates as justification... private prisons are not so lucky.

But lets get down to the facts:
This is one of over a hundred privately owned prison facilities. :ohhh:
Why is it being held up as the example of privatized prison then you ask? :dwillhuh:
cause its the one that failed. :heh:

Kinda silly really.

I'm going to get some numbers on state run prisons and compare them, something the writer of the article purposely neglected to do im sure. Then we will be able to put things into proper context.

:shaq2:
A closer look has revealed that this prison(and many like it) are anything but private. They are more of a state leased and controlled prison than anything else.
