well Microsoft passed on it so it must have been trash.

This series is possibly the most overrated franchise in gaming history. 1st was epic at the time because technology wasn't advanced enough to make games like that (on console at least) but those types of games are easily possible today. So what will be unique about this? Shenmue 2 wasn't this vastly superior experience. I didn't even finish it (for reasons I cannot remember)
It's easy to say it's overrated today, but the game still had a lot of elements that could be used to day but haven't been unfortunately.

For example the in games will always a big plus as well as the fact that you can play old console games as the lead character. These things kind of never get old. I just hope they be this game also there's not a lot of endless walking and talking.

You are repeating what someone else said, that is not your own thoughts :francis: What elements exactly is so special yet wasn't duplicated? The world was not even open world. You got different npc replies depending on the time of day  Shenmue wasn't the first or last game to have an arcade.

What made the game special was the fact you had a world to explore while controlling what almost resembled a fighting game character. Basically a fighting game with a campaign instead of just a story mode.

And that hasn't been duplicated...yet

Easy there. I've been around since day one with the game.

And I remember the Prince of Persia jump on that wave where if you beat the game you could play the original Nintendo game at the end. But this one was different in addition to the storyline you also had to work driving that damn forklift.

And to any and all naysayers, the game already got its funding plus some. Will it be enough to bring the true shenmue out I highly doubt it but we shall see. Maybe if the sales of it are even better it'll push more investors and backers for it. But I'm already in it to win it with it.

I was all in on Shenmue, loved Seaman :patrice: Seganet, all that shyt. And the first game delivered. Shenmue 2 didn't make it worldwide, had to special order the pal version... I remember it not being as enjoyable. So driving the forklift and beating up your co workers..it was cool for what it was. It's just, you bought into the hoopla. It wasn't as deep as advertised. It was set pieces not too different than the Milo Kinect demonstration. This is what the creator himself said (he didn't reference Kinect)

:what:Shenmue 2 did make it to the US. Not sure why you would have ordered the PAL version. Sounds like a load of :SCROOGEJUMP: if you ask me because it came out for.....
That aside. Shenmue 3 looks, smells, and will likely be :trash:.
Shenmue 1 will always be special to me for what it accomplished in its time.
Shenmue 2 wasn't as good as the first and 3 has taken so long to come out that I personally don't think it matters anymore.
I would like to see Shenmue 3 succeed and be able to finish what started out to be an epic story, but I don't see that happening.
I've made this argument before, even in this thread.
The Yakuza series is everything Shenmue wanted to be, and in the US, Yakuza is completely overlooked among the vast majority.

Which is ironic since its sega

Actually does Shenmue 3 have any ties to sega at all?

You guys need to realize that if a game is crowdfunded or whatever it's 100% likely to be trash

Even if it had money from a studio it would be trash , it would need a near GTA v kinda budget

Honestly, I don't really even care about gameplay aspect of it, shyt could be all QTEs as far as I'm concerned. Hell, it pioneered the damn things so pay homage to itself :pachaha:Anyways, I just need the story to be piff. The time passage should haven't affected the story at all, if not to make it better and more refined. So, these off brand sexual deviant developers in Japan can make me run around in a town that looks just San Andreas for PS2 and I'm still there day one. The ending of this saga has consumed my head for far too long.
